Chapter 7 - Sieg Heil

The sixth fleet and its escort of ten ships were quickly defeated by the Soviet 34th fleet and the Chinese 3rd fleet along with three other carrier groups. Only several destroyers and planes managed to escape, and the KGB and the Soviets were searching for sailors and shot-down pilots all over Japan. The carrier had decided to self-detonate after its allies had retreated successfully and left a giant mushroom cloud on the horizon of Japan. The explosion took out the Soviet 34th fleet and severely damaged the other fleets and carrier groups. Remaining coastal weapon emplacements took out the decimated Chinese and Soviet fleets before being destroyed by cruise missiles.

The next day, Soviet VDV and Spetnaz started searching Okinawa and explosions and gunfire woke Ryan from his slumber. He quickly grabbed his pistol and radio and said a word of thanks to his host who risked execution by hiding him. In the far distance, he could see trails and streams of blood trickling down the streets from the deaths of captured sailors and several innocent civilians who were caught in the crossfire. The Soviets were creating a bloodbath and were killing wantonly to vent their anger over the destruction of their fleet. Ryan headed towards the subway station when he heard someone shout.

"Hey, you, stop!" a Soviet officer yelled.

Ryan started running and he heard shots ring out behind him and he saw puffs on dirt splash in front of him as he felt bullets whiz by. He grabbed his pistol, fired a few shots back, and heard several screams and moans. Ryan then jumped into the sewer and threw a grenade behind him, thus collapsing part of the sewer system, slowing down his pursuers.

Travelling through the dark, damp sewer, he heard a gurgling sound and the smell of sea water. He followed the scent and soon arrived at an underwater cave and saw a submarine with a NATO flag on it with several German voices speaking. He also saw several mechanics repairing depth charge damage and they were also reloading the vertical launch tubes. The submarine looked sleek and deadly and had a stealthy atmosphere as though it was a ghost. Ryan lost his grip and fell in the clearing next to the submarine. Several German voices rang out.

"Who are you?" said a guard in a heavy German accent while he pointed a gun at him.

"I am Ryan, a shot down pilot from the 6th fleet", said Ryan.

"Wonderful, our reichmarschall will be extremely glad to see you. My name is Hans, welcome to our unterseeboot," said Hans.

Ryan entered the submarine and met the captain who was named Josef. He was introduced to the crew and the captain showed him his room. However, Ryan felt uneasy as he did not remember that Germany had submarines of this model. He sneaked out of his room and spied on the commander by crawling through the ventilation vents. From the darkness of the vents, he saw Josef chatting on the radio.

"We have found an allied pilot from the sixth fleet. This will strengthen our relationship with NATO." said Josef.

The person Josef talked with spoke quietly, and Ryan could not hear what they were saying, and the conversation made Ryan even more suspicious. When the commander was almost finished with his conversation, the commander shouted to the radio, "Sieg Heil. Long live the Third Reich!"
