The caravan rumbled to a halt at the gates of the long-neglected castle. The once-grand fortress stood before them, its weathered stones bearing the scars of time and neglect. Yet, despite its dilapidated state, the castle remained strong, beckoning the travellers with the promise of a new beginning.
The gate creaked open, revealing a small group of guards and a few dozen weary civilians from Solares, their faces etched with relief and curiosity.
As the caravan stepped onto the castle grounds, the villagers' eyes widened at the sight before them. The courtyard, overgrown with weeds and wildflowers, showed glimpses of its former beauty.
"Excuse me, sir. Are you the one the princess mentioned? The leader of this caravan?" A guard asked.
Gerard turned to face the guard, a warm smile gracing his weary features.
"Indeed, I'm Gerard. And you are?"
