"Finley?"
Beatrice look up and saw the transfer student, Crisanto Diaz, again. She put up a fake smile. "Oh… Hi Diaz, what's up?" She greeted Crisanto.
"Uh… Sky?" Crisanto joked making Beatrice giggle slightly. "Just call me Crisanto by the way. I don't get used to anyone calling me by my last name because it sounded weird and that is what they call my father as. So I don't want to mix it up." He told her. "What are you doing here outside in a cold night?" Crisanto asked Beatrice.
Beatrice stayed silent for a while and hugged her knees closer. "Nothing… I'm just chilling…" she replied. Crisanto sat beside Beatrice and he saw how her hand hold her other hand's wrist, which made him realized that he still had the bracelet that Beatrice accidentally drop.
Crisanto grabbed something in his jacket's pocket and put it on Beatrice palm. Beatrice eyes widened in shock and happiness, she then look at Crisanto for some explanation.
"You dropped it at school, so I grabbed it and was about to give it back to you but, you already went home. So I plan to give it to you when our path will crossed, that's why I called you at the other side of the pedestrian, but as a result, I almost died because of my carelessness." He explained, Beatrice couldn't help but laugh making Crisanto blush from embarrassment.
"H-hey! Don't laugh!" He exclaimed making Beatrice smile at him while her eyes are closed. "Thank you for giving my bracelet back… this bracelet really meant a lot to me." Beatrice admitted as she wore the bracelet back to where it was placed before.
Crisanto grinned in happiness. "No problem! I was supposed to return it to you tomorrow but our path crossed again." He stated.
"Oh. So that's why… also, just call me Beatrice to be fair since you made me call you Crisanto." Beatrice said, Crisanto smiled and nod, he then look at the stars above the sky. "Beatrice, what do you think of the stars and moon above the sky means?" He wondered.
"Hmm… to me, the moon serves as the light of our darkness and the stars that is shinning above are our guide to what kind of future do we choose." Beatrice replied to Crisanto's question.
"Wow! That's impressive Beatrice!" He gawked making Beatrice giggle.
"Thank you… I didn't expect that kind of reaction from you. Mostly, the persons who I currently call friends didn't even listen to it, since they said that I talk too deep." Beatrice admitted making Crisanto look at her in shock.
"What kind of friends is that? Friends should stick together and listen to what their friends shared." He said with a frown as he got back at looking to the starry night sky.
"Beatrice… can I ask you something?" Beatrice look at Crisanto in confusion but nod anyway. "Sure, go ahead." She replied.
"Can you be my friend?" He asked her making her eyes widened in surprise. "Not any kind of friends like the others show you, I want to be a kind of friend that will be around you when you need me." He finished, Beatrice world felt like it had stopped.
"Sweetie… when you have lots of friends, only few is the real ones and the others is fake. But no matter what, don't ever change your personality… a true friends are the one who are there for you when you needed them, and you will also be around them when they needed you." A voice of her mother remind her of what her mother said to her in the past days when she was still young.
Beatrice smiled genuinely "Sure!" she exclaimed making Crisanto grin in happiness. "HURRAY! I finally had a friend! " Crisanto celebrated making Beatrice giggled at Crisanto's energy.
The next day in school at lunch, Beatrice is the only one left in the class as always. As much as she put a cheerful façade and befriended anyone easily, she usually don't like to be the center of attention or neither did she like to be in a lot of people that she didn't know that well even though she can read them like an open book.
She continued to read the book that she was reading on her seat since she rarely eat lunch. Not because she was on a diet but it's because she lost the passion of cooking since her life felt lonely after the incident.
In the past, she used to cook with her mother while her father is the one who arranged the necessary things on the table. Her family had a day full of bright smiles plastered on their faces, but as some people says, it's always calm before the storm.
The cooking reminds Beatrice of the happy memories she had of her mother and her father, so she rarely cook. She might treasure the bracelet because of the memories it had but, she only used it for comfort when she missed her mother's touch.
While Beatrice mind was out of the word, she didn't notice that someone had stopped in front of her, and that someone is Crisanto.
Crisanto noticed that Beatrice seems to be in deep thought since her eyes is not focused at the book she was reading.
"Beatrice… Beatrice…" he called as he waved his hand in front of Beatrice face but there's still no response, Crisanto sighed and grabbed the book from Beatrice hold, he then put it aside.
Crisanto grab another lunchbox from in his bag and put it at Beatrice head making the said girl finally snapped out of her thought. She look at Crisanto in confusion while blinking. Crisanto removed the lunchbox from her head.
"Let's eat lunch together." He said to her making her mouth form in and 'o' shape expression.
"I can't eat lunch together with you." Beatrice respond to him making him raise his brow. "and why can't we eat lunch together exactly?" Crisanto questioned.
Beatice stared at him for awhile and then answered him. "I didn't bring one." She spoke bluntly.
Crisanto chuckled making Beatrice look at him in question to why is he laughing, did she said anything funny? Crisanto then spoke.
"That's your only problem? *Chuckled* don't worry about it. I already got you covered. I mostly saw you in the classroom at lunch time alone without eating any food, so I figured that you mostly won't bring lunch or you mostly forget to bring one, so I brought one just in case." He stated making Beatrice look at him in suspiciousness.
'He mostly see me? Is he a spy of some unknown organization that is an enemy of the mafia? Or is he a stalker?' Beatrice thought is her minds go wild of the future possibilities. 'I have to be careful around him even though he wanted to be my friend because everyone I friended here is fake and I always caught them backstabbing me. But why? Why is it when I am near Crisanto, I feel at ease and wanted to tell him all of my burdens and problems that I was currently facing?'
Crisanto handed the other lunchbox in front of Beatrice making her look at it, she was about to open her mouth to say that she isn't hungry. But truth to be told, Beatrice didn't eat anything for a week and it's a miracle that she still have strength left.
"Don't ever think about denying the food and say that you weren't hungry." Crisanto said making Beatrice look down in embarrassment that someone can predict to what she was about to say.
Beatrice sighed as she doesn't have any choice but to eat lunch, what could go wrong anyway…
"Lets eat at the riverbank, that's a place that I'm comfortable to go to since there isn't that much of people that will go there." Beatrice spoke and stood up, the both of them just left their bag on their chairs and walked out of the gate together.
