"Alex, don't talk. You don't want to get on this guy's bad side," Blake whispered in my ear.
The guy's bad side? He just seems like your typical bully if you ask me. Furthermore, I'd like to be able to see, but I guess that isn't happening anytime soon.
"Stop your whispering. If the female wants to face me herself, then you ought to let her. That'd be fair, wouldn't it, Blake Walvinsson?" Hinrik mocked with a gut-wrenching chuckle.
Wal…vin…sson?? I- Bwahahaha! I really shouldn't find the name funny, but I do. I must not actually laugh, though; that might bring more trouble.
"You aren't going to get the opportunity to touch even a single hair on her head. Just walk away before this gets ugly," Blake firmly stood his ground, seeming to clutch onto me a little tighter as if I might slip through his fingers if he didn't hold on tight.
Sooooooo, what kind of ugly are we talking about here? Like bloody nose ugly?
"Oh? You want the great Hinrik Erosson to back down from a fight?" Hinrik scoffed as if in disbelief.
I take it back- Erosson is funnier! Wow, I am a horrible person for laughing at names.
"Back off, mutt," a new deep voice joined the conversation, seeming to come from my right. "You mess with one of us; you mess with all of us."
Excuse me? Mutt? -and wait, who the heck is this guy, and where'd he come from?! Besides that, who is we?
"HAH HAH AHAHAA," Hinrik roared in laughter, "You and what army, Aron?"
Villain alert! This Hinrik is definitely playing the role of the evil villain.
"You know, I've been itching for a hunt. Mutt sounds like a pretty good appetizer for tonight," a tenor voice chirped in from my left.
SAY WHAT NOW?! Appetizer???? OH HOLY SHIT, THEY'RE CANNIBALS!!! Who else just talks about eating- Wait a minute, this is a new person. Does anyone want to explain where these new people are appearing from? Ah, right… Nobody here can hear my thoughts…..ehhh, as far as I know, that is.
"Barbaric as ever, Sasi. I wouldn't want to ruin my taste buds with that kind of shit," a deep bass-sounding voice announced.
Are these new people falling from the sky or something??? Damnit, I want to see!
"I agree with Liam on this one, Sasi. Hinrik would ruin our palate," Blake chuckled heartily, his hold loosening just a tad.
Hmmm, a prime opportunity just presented itself! Here I go…
Just as I went to pry Blake's hand down from my eyes, I felt a hot hand grip my forearm from what seemed like behind me. That hot hand literally ripped me from Blake's hold. I screeched from the sheer force. My arm felt like it was on fire. An equally just as hot breath chuckled darkly against my left ear before I felt the person's other hand pinch my chin with their massive hand.
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! Are you an animal or something?! Clearly, this guy doesn't know how to handle a lady!
"What a catch, Hinrik. This one doesn't look too bad. Think we could break her in?" The same dark voice threatened.
Hah…hah… Who's breaking who in? Do I look like a new pair of sneakers to you??
"MAKAN, LET HER GO!" An outraged Blake bellowed, his hazel eyes turning crimson as he crouched just slightly as if he was waiting for an opening to charge at him.
So this ruffian's name is Makan…- Wha- Did his eyes just change color?! Someone tell me I'm seeing things! Oh man, holy shit! No, no, no, I must be dreaming. Ain't no way my new friend is a vamp!
At the mere sight of his eyes, a cold chill flew down my spine. I was beginning to understand a little more about what kind of school this was. Knowing I was in trouble, I tried to kick Makan in the shin but failed.
"Oh, ho ho! She's feisty!" Makan whooped.
Well, that was a total fail… Plan B!
Coming up with a possibly stupid but desperate solution, I turned my head sharp and sunk my teeth into Makan's hand. He howled, raising a hand which I assumed was to strike me with a fire in his eye. I closed my eyes, expecting a hard impact, but it never came.
"KEEP YOUR FILTHY PAWS OFF MY WOMAN!!!" Xinith boomed.
Son of a b- WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?! I LEFT YOU IN THE DORM BY YOURSELF FOR A REASON!!! …-and when exactly did I become YOUR woman??? I don't recall agreeing to this.
Just as I opened one eye, I saw that Xinith had grabbed Makan's raised hand. Xinith threw a punch that seemed to have the force of a train as he threw it in Makan's face, sending him flying as he pulled me to his chest. To say that I was stunned was an understatement. When I blinked up at Xinith in total disbelief, I noticed his eyes had turned silver, and they were glowing A LOT.
I quickly looked away before he could catch me staring. I was a little tired of being manhandled by everyone, so I tried to wiggle out of Xinith's hold, but that only earned a warning glare from him. I smiled sheepishly, feeling awkward. My eyes then went to search for Blake, but as if Xinith knew, he turned my face back to him. I huffed in annoyance, my lips in a thin line. Meanwhile, my arms were just dangling at my sides.
"Xinith," Blake cautiously called, tiptoeing toward us, "I know we don't see eye to eye, but you need to calm down and let go of Alex before you accidentally crush her…"
"Back the fuck up, bloodsucker or you'll feel my wrath next," Xinith seethed through gritted teeth.
Bloodsucker… Well, that confirms my fear… My new friend is a vamp…
"Of course he's a vampire, Alex. You couldn't figure that out? So are his dormmates. You need me to point out what everyone else is too?" Xinith nagged, his words feeling like venom.
Clap. Clap.
"Oh, how touching, a lover's quarrel," I heard Hinrik clap while chuckling in amusement. That's when my temper snapped; I was done putting up with all the bullshit for one day.
My eyes narrowed and before I could think of a proper response to everyone, my body acted for me. I sent a seering slap to Xinith's cheek, enough to stun him long enough to let go. Immediately after that, I grabbed a wooden chair at one of the Café tables and slammed it on the ground, picking up a broken leg. With a fire set ablaze in my eyes, I marched over to the one named Hinrik.
With every step I took, Hinrik's smile drifted away as I drew nearer. Blake and his dormmates backed out of my way, not even trying to stop me. Hinrik took a step back, trying to put out a hand to block any attack.
"You crazy bitch, what the hell are you doing?! Who do you think you are?!" Hinrik tried to intimidate me.
"You'll remember my name after today, asshole," I hissed as my grip on the wood grew tighter. I was fed up and obviously someone needed to beat some sense in this guy. So, why not me? He deserves a good ass beating. "My name…," I struck with the broken wood, cracking his hand and the bones inside it. He howled in pain, too slow to dodge my next attack as I whacked his right shin and swept his feet out from underneath him, "…is Alex Paternosh." With Hinrik on the ground, I swung the wood again before he could regain his composure and cracked it against his skull, splintering the wood. I stepped on his chest as he coughed and leaned down, "I better never lay my eyes on you again, because if I do, I'll do more than what I did today. Don't EVER cross an Italian woman unless you have a death wish. I don't give a fuck as to who you are; Nobody insults me and gets away with it."
Heh… So much for the big bad wolf.
I stood tall, spitting on the ground next to Hinrik. I sneered at him, and to my enjoyment, he flinched. My gaze turned to Makan who had crashed into a few tables, courtesy of Xinith. I thought of bashing him with the rest of the broken chair but he looked like he had been knocked out cold. I may fight dirty sometimes but I won't attack someone who I know can't defend themselves. I looked back over at Xinith, pleased to see a bright red mark in the shape of my hand on his cheek. His eyes were still silver but they were no longer glowing; he just looked a little lost for words.
"Remind me to never get on your bad side. Alex…," Blake gulped, looking at the disheveled Hinrik. "Who uh… Who taught you to do that?"
"My grandfather," I curtly replied, crossing my arms across my chest as I took a few steps closer to him. "Anything you want to tell me?"
"Alex, I was going to tell you, I swear," Blake tried to explain taking a step closer. "I'm sorry you had to find out this way… Oh my god, your arm!" Blake suddenly exclaimed as he reached out to gently take hold of my right arm.
"Huh? What's wrong with," I started to say until my eyes fell on the rather large cut on my forearm and the blood slowly dripping down my arm. "Oh… When did that happen?" I blinked in confusion but my gaze snapped to behind Blake when I heard a hiss-like sound and saw three pairs of glowing crimson eyes accompanied by three sets of fangs as they all stared at my arm. Blake followed my gaze and immediately shot a disapproving look.
"Alex isn't food, so stop drooling and put your fangs away, guys. Someone find the first aid kit; I know there's one around here somewhere," Blake said as he grabbed a wad of napkins and pressed it against my mysterious bleeding wound.
"Your new friend is a total badass, Blake!" The one called Liam shouted as he went to look for the first aid kit with the other two.
"So, were you planning on actually getting food with me before, or…?" I questioned him, stealing a side glance at Xinith every now and then.
"Yeah, I was," Blake replied as he looked at my wound with concern. "Don't you feel any pain about this?"
"No, I don't. Forget that for a minute and start explaining what's going on around here," I sighed, wanting to know what kind of school I had landed myself in.
When I looked over at Xinith again, his eyes were glued to me. His eyes had changed back to dark blue, and instead of the emotionless expression he had usually worn, he looked forlorn. I guess he felt guilty somewhat, but I scowled when he went to take a step toward me.
"Alex…," Xinith reached out but retracted his arm when he saw my scowl.
It seems even a demon has a weakness.
"Don't talk to me," I said before looking away from Xinith and back to my arm and then up to Blake, waiting for an answer to my question.
