Breaking out from the tree line just ahead of them were a man and a woman in neat taoist robes. The two taoists broke out into smiles upon seeing Ryker and his group, but those smiles quickly turned to shock once they caught a glimpse of the gigantic Bai Xiyi at their side.
"S-Senior Brother! Are we really going to die here?!" the young woman cried. On second glance, her neat taoist robes were actually disheveled and covered in dirt, her qi depleted to the point where she could no longer repel dust and filth.
"No, there are other cultivators surrounding the beast, it may be friendly!" shouted the man, noticing that Ryker and the others were standing calmly around Bai Xiyi.
The two of them pushed themselves even harder, rapidly closing the distance as the trees behind them began to rumble. All of a sudden, a monstrous roar thundered across the plains, and several trees were unceremoniously uprooted as an enormous toad barreled out of the forest.
