Ryker raised an eyebrow, wondering what could have prompted Luo Shuchang to call so soon after they'd parted. Usually, Ryker would have to prod him a few times to even get a text back.
"Yo, Shuchie, what's up?" he said aloud, mentally picking up the call as he ran off towards the Sea and Root Oasis. Soon, the voice of Luo Shuchang sounded in his head, his voice as calm as ever like they hadn't been locked in mortal combat just an hour ago.
– Ryker. I'm leaving the mystic realm in a few moments, so I'll make this quick. Are you alone? – he said, cueing Ryker to bring the conversation in to his mental space.
'Er, yeah, I was just saying goodbye to Hu Long. Is this about… you know, 'that'?' Ryker thought. The problem Luo Shuchang was having, it had to be related to the Ascension Trials that were happening in two years, right?
Unexpectedly, though, his answer came back negative.
