Chapter 189 - Guard Duty

Ryker let out a grunt as he sat down beside Wen Xiaodan, leaning back on his hands while he gradually expelled the remnants of her Tianshan Lightning Fist.

"Hey, it was a good try," he said, comforting her as he noticed the tears in her eyes, "I think If you hadn't let me get off all those magic missiles, you would've had a better shot."

Indeed, if she had interrupted his spell casting sooner, the result wouldn't have been so cut and dry. As it was, though, having to weather the barrage of magic missiles had left her almost out of stamina at the critical moment, causing her to lose focus and get caught by Ryker's gravity-enhanced tackle.

Wen Xiaodan didn't answer, only sniffling as she wiped her tears. She did take the water that Ryker offered her, though, drinking a few sips from the bottle before handing it back to him.
