The answer to that question, Ryker found, was a bleak and desolate one. After passing through the guard house of Cactus Town, Rabeen led the two of them through the dusty streets, showcasing the city's rather… subpar living conditions.
Emaciated men and women sat listlessly on every street corner, the sandstone buildings weathered and crumbling above them. An acrid smell pervaded the air, made worse by the dry heat of the desert sun.
Of course, there were some exceptions. Several well-to-do individuals walked the streets, as well, swaggering about with their sabers and crossbows at their side. However, they were definitely in the minority; Ryker counted no more than a dozen as they passed.
