Chapter 96 - Dueling Shadows

Seconds ticked by in tense silence, a cold sweat dripping down Ryker's forehead. The mist surrounding him seemed to pervade his senses, the stone bridge blurring in his vision even as the murmuring of the river intensified in his ears, and he could feel his extremities slowly growing numb as the chill seeped into his bones.

He knew he had to get out of this mist, but one wrong step, and…

A familiar prickling sensation in the back of his head shook him out of his stupor, and he quickly spun his staff, striking out in every direction until his staff struck the metal of a blade behind him, which briefly revealed the muddled form of Xia Qingge.

Immediately, Ryker thrust out, his staff scattering the cold mist as he did, but his weapon seemed to go straight through Xia Qingge's shadow like a mirage as she evaporated into thin air. He clicked his tongue, but took this chance to rush across the bridge, running deeper into the Xinjian District in front of him.
