Chereads / My Chimeric System / Chapter 16 - First Day of School (1)

Chapter 16 - First Day of School (1)

A ding in his head woke Ian up from sleep, causing him to reluctantly open his eyes. Looking through his window, it was still fairly dark outside.

He checked his watch for time and realized that it was still 4 am.

"System, what's the meaning of this?" he whispered as the familiar screen popped into his view.

[Daily Quest: Train your vessel. 10 push-ups (0/10), 10 sit-ups (0/10) and 10 squats (0/10). Drink two litres of water (0/2).]

[Reward: 10exp]

[Daily Quest: 1 hour of meditation(0/60mins).]

[Reward: 5 exp]

"What?" he thought. "You woke me up because of this?"

He thought about going back to bed just to annoy the system but decided against it, eventually standing up with a sigh.

"If I want to become even a little bit stronger, then I should be able to do this much," he thought as he made his way to the fridge and got out two bottles of water.

He started with five pushups, then five sit-ups and finally five squats before emptying the first bottle of water. Just like yesterday, his muscles were screaming at him but he endured it and completed the workout with two minutes to spare.

"That's a lot better than yesterday," he thought with a smile. "I barely had a second yesterday."

His smile soon dropped as he thought about yesterday.

"What am I happy about?" he sighed. "My roommate was doing 300 one-hand pushups yesterday and here I am celebrating I've ten normal pushups."

He immediately contained his excitement and made his way back to his bed to meditate.

"Now I see why the system woke me up this early," he thought as he sat down to meditate.

At the end of the one-hour session, the familiar ding sound informed him. Opening his eyes, the familiar screen displayed his rewards.

[Daily Quests completed, 15 exp has been awarded.]

[Host: Ian Yaeger]

[Race: Chimera]

[Sub Race: Human]

[Level: 1]

[Exp: 30/50]

[Energy: 100/100]

[VD: 5/100]

[Health: 10/10]

[Strength: 3]

[Agility: 3]

[Stamina: 5]

[Free stat points: 5]

"Huh?" he thought. "Free stat points? Does this mean I can use them to increase my stat points?"

"Now that I think of it, I completed the quest I was given by the system yesterday, and it did promise free stat points."

[Would you like to use your free stat points now?]

"Of course," he thought. "Why not?"

[Specify stat point allocation.]

"Hmmm," he thought. "Even after adding the stat points, my stats are still pathetic. It would only make a little difference. For now, I'll try to balance out my stat points. 2 stat points to strength and 3 to agility."

His greed for strength made him wince a little bit at his decision but in the end, it can't be helped. His fighting style depends a lot more on his reflexes and agility than his strength so this is the best possible use of his stat points.

He felt a slight rush in his body but there weren't any significant changes to his body as he expected.

"I guess that's all there is to it," he shrugged as he stood up.

His eyes drifted around the screen and he caught the red dot on the bell icon, indicating that he had a notification.

At his command, the notification was displayed in front of him.

[Additional Reward, Instant level up awarded.]

[Would you like to level up?]

"Hmmm," he thought. "There's nothing to lose right?"

Looking at his watch, he realized that the time was already 5:40 am. The morning alarm would be ringing anytime soon. That means he needed to make a decision fast so he immediately said out loud. "Yes."

A surge of pain filled his body, moving from the tip of his toes, his fingers and his forehead, and converging at the middle of his chest. His heartbeat also increased dramatically and he feared his head would burst as he bit into the pillow behind him to muffle his screams.

The pain lasted for well over ten minutes before stopping and spreading a cool, refreshing and soothing feeling down to the areas the pain rose from, making him relax in exhaustion.

[Level up completed.]

[Host: Ian Yaeger]

[Sub Race: Human]

[Health: 15/15]

[Strength: 5]

[Stamina: 5]

Looking at the time again, he only had five minutes before the alarm goes off and he doesn't want to have to deal with sharing the bathroom with his obnoxious roommates. There was no time to rest as he dragged himself off the bed and made him.

He didn't even have time to exit the screen as he hurriedly brushed his teeth and got in the shower. The alarm rang while he was still taking his shower when the alarm rang but he didn't have a reason to hurry anymore so he took his time before coming out.

"You sure took your sweet time," Blake commented as he laid his back on the wall beside the door.

Ian gave him one glance, and eventually, let his eyes trail down his exposed body which only had a towel covering it. He was the image of everything Ian wanted to be physically.

Blake was almost six feet tall with a lean-fit frame. Rock-hard abs, chest and well-toned muscles covered by well-tanned skin which is a direct contrast to Ian's 5'6 small frame with barely any muscles, chest or abs, covered by pale to white skin.

"What?" Blake asked, noticing Ian's gaze on him. "What are you looking at?"

"Nothing," Ian shrugged as he walked past him and made his way to his closet.

Blake stared at him for a few extra seconds before making his way inside the bathroom shaking his hair with a sigh.

"A weakling like him doesn't deserve my anger," he thought.

As he dressed up, he noticed Flint standing in an identical position to Blake earlier. Covered only with a towel also.

Flint was just as well built as Blake if not better built. He was more muscular than Blake but still maintained a lean frame. He was about 5'9 and also had tanned skin, but his skin and body looked a lot tougher than that of Blake.

Ian looked away with a sigh. Luckily, Flint hadn't bothered to even look his way which meant he didn't catch him staring.

"I guess all I have over these guys is my face," he thought. "I'm so jealous.

He got dressed in the blue and white colours and took a hair band as usual before making his way out. He parted his hair a little bit around his eyes to enable him to see, but he let everywhere else be covered with the hair.

He walked nervously as he made his way to his first class according to the watch's GPS direction. His schedule for the semester had already been updated on the watch so all he had to do was follow the directions. This was created to avoid students giving the excuse of having been lost trying to find their class since it made sure no one got lost on their way to class.

Ian on the other hand was nervous because of yesterday's events. He still thinks they might be after him and was scared someone was eventually gonna figure out that it was him. He was also careful of troublemakers and bullies.

A ding in his head stopped him from drowning in his thoughts as the system screen popped into his field of view. His heart skipped a beat as he saw it, but relaxed as he remembered that he was the only one who sees it. It was see-through so he kept walking like nothing was wrong so that he doesn't attract attention.

[Energy: 46/100]

[Energy is below half. Host would have to rest to conserve and replenish his energy before it reaches 10. When energy reaches 10, host will lose consciousness..]

"That's just great," Ian sighed. "It seems like this system is eager to kill me."

He soon reached the school building and with a deep breath and his most expressionless face possible, he took a step inside.

The silence and tranquillity of the school halls gave him immense pleasure as he was one of the earliest at school.

"This is bliss," he thought as he walked the halls proudly. He made his way to a label that said class F which was also indicated by his watch as his class.

He stepped in and was just as disappointed as he expected. The F class was for weaklings like him.

"It seems I'm the earliest to class," he thought. "Or probably the only one in this class."

He made his way to an empty seat and laid back as he waited for others.

"I've become a little stronger," he thought. "I can feel it. My body feels better than it used to."

[Energy is getting replenished.]

"Seems like all I needed was some rest," he sighed. "Let's get this first day over with as soon as possible."
