Chapter 22 - Anabelle

"Anabelle, are you okay?" Mike asked his daughter.

Anabelle.

So, that's her name.

He stood up and walked over her.

He lifted her head up and shook her, but she was not responding.

Did she just faint?

Is she still breathing?

Is she alive?

I feel like going to help him,but I can't.

There is nothing I can do,but to watch them from a safe distance.

He lifted her entire body into his arm and carried her.

"Boom!" She exclaimed.

"I got you." She said and giggled.

She slipped out of his arm and used his head to hit the wall and he started bleeding.

Wow!

She's got some fighting skills.

She kicked him on his back before he could turn around and face her.

"Are you seriously beating up your father?" He asked her.

"You are not my fucking father. You are only a sperm donor. Thanks." She said and kicked him on the groin.

She picked up her bag which fell down while her and her father started fighting.

She quickly ran towards the road, hailed a taxi, entered it and it drove off.

He was just lying down there with his belly down.

I thought he was unconscious and was about to come out of my hiding, but he stood up, staggered towards the car pack, entered his car and drove off.

Finally,

It's time to think about what I just saw.

Should I do that now?

No, I will after doing what is most important now.

I have to go into the bank and withdraw money, I need a lot of cash right now.

I exhaled very loudly and finally came out of my hiding and started walking towards the bank building.

The moment I entered the building, all eyes turned on me.

Like, the whole, no, everyone was just staring at me with displeasure.

I became a bit ashamed or shy, but I have never felt this way before.

So, I did not know how to react.

I did not mind them, because I was not even bothered.

They were even making way for me.

Why all these annoying stares?

I hate the gazes.

I just walked past all of them, feeling unconcerned and unbothered.

I joined the queue of customers that were waiting to be attended to.

All I am concerned about right now is to successfully collect my money and no one should recognize me.

God please.

I don't want to be recognized at all, not even by a kid.

I scanned the large hall to see if I could find a wall clock or any source of time and date, maybe.

I did,but it was a digital wall clock and it was too far to see too, because the other people in the queue were blocking it.

I will be patient and wait for my turn and just turn my head down and move forward if the person in front of me does.

I do not care if there was anyone behind me.

About fifteen to twenty minutes later, I checked and counted the people remaining in the queue again and I was

the twelfth person on the line.

Finally, it's my turn,

"Hey miss." The person attending to the customer greeted me. I do not know what he is called, I don't care.

"Good afternoon," he greeted me and I just smiled.

"How may I help you?" He finally asked.

"I want to make a withdrawal." I told him.

"Here," he said and slid a paper in front of me.

I collected and checked what it was, it was a withdrawal slip.

I gestured for a pen and he handed me one.

I filled the slip and returned both the paper and pen back to him.

He collected it and checked it before going back to his computer.

He returned to me and signed on the paper.

"Go to the cashier room." He ordered.

"Where is that?" I asked him.

"Upstairs," he said and pointed to the stairs.

"Thank you." I said to him,as I collected the slip from him, I then smiled at him for a very short time and was about to leave the queue.

He just nodded and smiled back at me.

"Next." He said as I left the queue.

I got to the staircase and started climbing and I ended up in another large hall.

I glanced around to check for a cashier sign board.

I saw one,but there was a queue in front of it, I could not even see the cashier.

Damn!

'Another queue.'

I joined the queue again, that was when I remembered that I forgot to check the time.

'The guy from the hall downstairs greeted me good afternoon, that means we are in afternoon then.'

It finally got to my turn and it was a lady that was the cashier.

I handed her the slip, she scanned it and went to her computer, she typed on it and started to count the money.

When she was finished, she handed me another paper and a pen.

She asked me to sign it, which I did and returned both the pen and paper to her.

"No, keep the slip." She said to me,

"Here is your money." She said and handed me a medium sized bag.

I withdrew all of my money.

"Thank you," I said to her.

"It's a large sum, you can go count it over there to double check, inside that room" she said to me, pointing at a door and handing me a single key.

"Please, kindly return the key before leaving." She added.

I nodded, collected the key and walked towards the door, I inserted the key in the keyhole and opened the door.

When I got inside the door, I removed the key and closed the door.

There was a bolt at the back of the door, I fastened it and walked towards the table and chair in the room.

I gently placed the bag and the key on the table and sat on the chair.

I sighed and gently poured the content of the bag on top of the table and started counting.

I finished counting, it was correct.

I gently and carefully returned the content back into the bag and left the room.

"Thank you."I said to her,as I returned the key to her.

"Thank you for returning," she replied smiling as she collected the key from me.

"Thanks for banking with SBE. See you next time." She added and smiled at me at the same time.

I nodded at her in response and went downstairs and then out of the building.

I sighed the moment I completely left the bank premises.

What a relief.

I walked towards the road and hailed a taxi.

"Good afternoon ma'am," the taxi driver greeted.

"Good afternoon sir," I greeted back.

"Where do you want to go?" He asked.

"Island hotel." I replied to him.

"That will be four euros" he said to him.

"Just go." I ordered him.

"I will make it ten, if you can get there as fast as possible." I added.

"Okay ma'am." He said and laughed softly.

"Fasten your seat belt." He advised.

"Thanks." I said and smiled at him.

I checked the digital clock in the car and the time was two thirty two p.m.

My destination was quite far, but ten minutes later we were there.

He used many shortcuts.

"Thanks." I said to him when we got to my destination.

I paid him and came out of the car.

I entered the hotel and walked up to the receptionist.

"Hello, good afternoon ma'am." She greeted and smiled.

"How may I help you?" She asked, still smiling.

"Good afternoon. A first class room please." I said to her and smiled back.

She handed me a form to fill which I did and I was given a hotel key card afterwards.

I got inside the room, dropped my money bag on the bed and entered the bathroom to have a long relaxing bath.

I spent a total of thirty minutes in the bathroom and put on new clothes.

I was served lunch and then I climbed the bed, I recited the Lord's prayer and fell asleep.

I slept all through the night and woke up around seven thirty a.m the next day.

I had my breakfast, had my bath, collected some cash and hid the rest under the bed.

I left the hotel to go get some essentials.

I needed a cell phone and a sim card.

I got to the store and bought a laptop too.

I have to stalk J.J again, not just because I like him,but also because he was the only person that did not know what happened to him.

I need him to help me.

I returned to the hotel and put everything in place.

I have to prepare for tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be Wednesday.

I need to ask him for help in person, but there is only one problem, I fear that he might not recognize me, talk less of remembering me.

He has to.

I will definitely make him remember, if he doesn't.
