"Thank you so much," Genevieve said to me, smiling.
"You are welcome," I said to her.
She sat closer to me and then gave me a hug.
My heart began to raise.
"You will never regret this decision," she said to me. "Thank you so much. I mean it."
"You are welcome," I said to her.
I suddenly became excited that she hugged me.
My heart was still beating. Am I falling for her?
But I am straight.
How can I be falling for her when I have never dated before.
I do not want to be in a bisexual relationship.
Mom would kill me and grandma would be very disappointed in me.
She was still hugging me, I tried separating myself from her, but she was still holding me tightly.
The bond was so strong that I could not break free.
Just then, she kissed me on the cheek. That made my heart skip a bit.
Finally,
She let go. "I will take my leave now," she said to me and curtsey.
It was going to rain, I wanted to talk.
But I suddenly became muted. I was short of words.
Still puzzled.
I wanted to ask her if she had an umbrella.
She stood up, bent over and picked up her bag.
I was still seated.
"Would you like to see me off, my Lady?" She asked.
I still did not reply.
It's not that I do not want to, but I could not.
My mouth suddenly became too heavy to open.
My lips became glued, that they could not part open.
"My Lady?" She called me.
I was not staring at her either.
She tapped my shoulder twice and that sent a cold to run down my spine.
This is no longer funny.
I am not going to do it. I have to hold myself.
'Walk away Genevieve. Please'
I am going to count to ten.
If she does not quit, I would not be able to hold it any longer.
'One.'
She shrugged and started to walk towards our mini fence and gate.
'Two.'
She stopped halfway, turned around to face me.
'Three.'
"Are you seriously not going to see me off?"
She asked me, shouting at the top of her voice so that I could hear her.
'Four'
She turned towards the mini fence and gate again, took a few steps.
'Five.'
She stopped walking again, she was only a few steps away from halfway.
'Six.'
She turned again to face me, made a funny face and pouted at the same time.
'Seven.'
"Are you alright?" She asked, I could not tell if she was concerned or confused
'Eight.'
"You are scaring me, my Lady. I can't leave like this," she said and started coming back, walking towards my direction.
'Nine.'
She dropped her bag and started running towards me.
Before I could say Jack, she was already by my side.
'Nine and half.'
She grabbed my right hand and started to check my pulse.
'Nine and quarter.'
"Your pulse is okay," she said to me. I still did not move nor blinked.
'Nine and nothing.'
She then stretched out her arm, placed her palm on my forehead and the other one her own forehead.
'Ten.'
"Your temperature is okay too," she said, but before she could remove her arm from my forehead, I quickly grabbed her wrist and quickly stood up.
"You are such an attention seeker,"
That was the first thing I was able to say to her after being silent for almost ten minutes.
"Uh?"
She was shocked at what I said to her.
"Uh huh,"
I replied to her.
"Attention seeker?" She said to me,
I really do not know if that offended her. If it did, that is her problem.
Not mine.
"Is that not what you are?"
I asked her.
"How dare you?"
She asked me angrily. She raised her hand and was going to strike me in the face, but I caught her arm by the wrist in the air.
"Are you going to hit a noble Lady?"
I asked her.
"Do you want to get beheaded?"
I asked her another question.
But this time,
I really could not tell if I was teasing her or threatening her.
Maybe it was both.
"No my Lady," she said, with teary eyes.
She released her hand from my grip and faced down.
"I dare not my Lady. I dare not strike a noble Lady on the face," she said to me.
She started crying this time and pleading at the same time.
"I have made a grave mistake. Please overlook it," she said to me, pleading.
I did not reply to her. I just stood there.
Has she been like this all her life?
Pleading for a simple mistake. I provoked her.
"My Lady," she said without daring to raise her face.
"How dare you touch a gentry without permission?"
I asked her
That only made her cry more.
"I am sorry, my Lady," she said pleading with her tiny palms clutched tightly together.
She was about to kneel, so I quickly stopped her.
I was not bullying her, I am not a bully, neither was I threatening her. I have no reason to do so.
I know that I am a bit jealous and mad at her, because of J.J, but still.
It was already raining lightly, I quickly ran towards her bag, grabbed it and then I ran back to her.
By the time I got to her, the rain had become very heavy.
"Follow me," I said to her
I quickly ran towards the door of our living room, while she was running after me.
"Are your clothes wet?" I asked her when we entered the living room.
Her hair was completely wet and so was mine, but for some reason, unknown to me. I cared about her.
That was strange and new.
And a bit weird.
"I should be the one asking you that, my Lady," she said to me.
Still facing down.
"Do not worry about me. This is my house," I said to her.
She started shivering.
"Are you with a sweater?" I asked her.
She shook her head.
I grabbed her bag.
"Follow me," that was what I heard myself say.
I then left her and walked towards the stairs.
I was about climbing the stairs, but I turned to see if she was following me and she was.
I climbed up the stairs quickly, I put my password and the door flung open.
"Get in," I said to her.
I entered first and put on the light.
I checked my phone screen, the time was six PM. My friends must have gone.
I entered the corner of my room that leads to the bathroom, I grabbed two towels and returned to Genevieve.
She was still standing.
"Here," I said to her, as I handed one of the towels to her.
She looked puzzled at first, but then asked.
"What for, my Lady?"
I think she was surprised.
I do care about people, but not to this extent.
I do not share any of my personal belongings with anyone, except Lizzy, but not always.
"For your hair," I said to her.
She did not take it, I do not know if she was scared.
"Do not worry about it. You can keep it," I said to her.
She finally collected it.
"Thank you, my Lady," she said to me calmly, but with a broken voice.
She was still shivering.
I did not reply, I just nodded.
I wrapped the towel around my head, with all of my hair in it.
I opened a drawer and brought out one of my nightgowns and placed it on the bed.
"Go have your bath and change into this," I said to her.
Instead of moving, she just stood there, staring at me, as if I was a visible ghost.
"What?" I asked her, because I do not understand why she was staring at me like that.
I just did her a damn favor.
"Can I use your toiletries?" She asked me.
"Yes, you can," I said to her and nodded at the same time.
"Okay, my Lady," she said to me and was about to leave.
"Wait"
I said to her,
"Yes my Lady," she said as she stopped.
"You can keep whatever you use," I said to her.
"Yes my Lady. Thank you, my Lady," she said to me and entered the corner to my bathroom.
'Oh Lord!'
I was about to sit, but remembered that my clothes were wet too.
Shit!
I opened the drawer and was about to grab another nightgown when I remembered that the one on the bed was my favorite one.
A designer.
A product of Chanel.
I quickly removed it from the bed and replaced it with another one with a similar color and quickly changed into the chanel nightgown.
I unwrapped the towel on my head and used it to dry the tip of my hair.
I kept the clothes I was wearing and the towel I just used in the big plastic basket where I kept my worn and dirty clothes that needed to be washed.
I sat on my reading chair and reached for my phone, then dialed Lizzy's number.
I want to know her whereabouts.
It finished ringing, but she did not pick it up, so I redid it again.
This time, she picked when it almost finished ringing.
"Hey gal," Lizzy said from the other side of the phone.
"Where are you?"
I asked her,
"Am at Hale's," she said then moaned.
I could hear a male voice, but what he was saying was not audible.
That is Hale.
"What are you doing?"
I asked her, even though I already knew what was going on there.
They were making up.
They have a really special way of making up.
Who does just kiss and makeup these days? Kids.
"Am…. Oh goodness," she said and moaned again.
"What did you say?" I asked her.
"Am damn busy right nooooo wwww. Oh Hale," she said and moaned again.
"What are you doing?" I asked her again.
"Am busy. Let's talk later," she replied.
"Wait."
"Do not end the call now," I pleaded with her.
"What?" She asked me
"When are you going home?" I asked her.
"I will be spending the night here," she said and moaned again, but this time, it was quite long.
"It's expected. It might rain throughout tonight. Make sure you make up well with Hale," I said to her and quickly ended the call before she could say anymore words.
I laughed at myself.
I checked at the screen of my phone again for time and it was six thirty four PM.
I sighed very deeply.
I decided to reminisce about today's event.
There were only three people I could think about today.
J.J, Raymond and Genevieve.
Am I getting crazy?
How can I have feelings for three fellows at the same time?
Ugh!
No. Never.
Not me.
I just remembered what grandma told me earlier this evening,
"Follow your heart,". I said under my breath.
I have to follow my heart, if I have one.
I am being greedy.
How can I possibly be crushing on three individuals?
It is not normal,is it?
It's weird. I am being a weirdo at the moment.
My heart can't possibly belong to a girl right?
No, it can't.
I am just overthinking.
On the other hand, I really don't know how I feel about Genevieve. Infact, I am confused.
I really do not know if it is just jealousy or hatred.
I am having feelings for her and at the same time, I am having hatred for her or jealous that she danced with my life long crush and not me.
"Stupid bitch," I said under my breath.
I also just remembered my mom's words from last night.
"Date one of them then. It is not difficult, dear, you are a pretty girl. You are every guy's dream. You are smart, good looking, that J.J of a guy is definitely blind. I am sure you are the prettiest girl he must have ever set his eyes on,'' I recalled.
It's true. J.J does not have eyes
If he does, he would have noticed a very long time ago.
We should have been dating now and might be busy and making up just like Lizzy and Hale.
Oh!
There is someone I have almost forgotten totally about.
Raymond.
Where is he?
I do not have his phone number.
How do I reach him?
I do not know why, but I became a bit worried.
Has he gone home?
He might be under the rain.
'Eunice,Stop thinking about him. You can do it.'
No.
I can't.
I quickly opened my drawer, brought out a hoodie, wore it and grabbed an extra one.
A large one that could fit a male.
I reached for an umbrella, put my phone in my pocket and collected my car keys.
I was about to leave my room, when I remembered that there was someone inside the bathroom.
I reached for a jotter that was on top of my reading table, I tore out a page and grabbed a pen.
I quickly scribed on the piece of paper that I tore out.
(I will be right back. Stay here. Do not come out.)
After writing, I placed my coffee mug on the paper and left my room hurriedly.
I have to sneak out, someone should not see me.
I succeeded in climbing down the stairs without anyone seeing me.
I was about to sneak out of the living room.
I tiptoed to the door, I put the passcode and was about to turn the door knob, because it does not fling open like the other doors in the house.
"Young Lady, where do you think you are going?" Mom asked behind me.
That scared the hell out of me.
I turned around to face her.
"Mum," I said and sighed very deeply.
"You scared the hell out of me," I said to her.
"That does not answer the question I just asked you. I will repeat it. Where are you going?" Mom asked me again.
Shit.
She is supposed to be sleeping. Is she not tired from today's event?
"Uh… I…. Uh," I stammered as I could not think of any reasonable excuse to make.
"You what?" She asked me.
"Mom, there is no time to talk. I promise, I will explain it to you later, when I get back," I said, as I turned and was about to leave.
"You dare not walk out on me," she said to me, angrily.
"I turned again to face her.
"I am sorry, mom." I apologized to her.
"That is none of my business. Can you just answer my question, young Lady," she said to me.
"Where are you going?" She asked again.
"Okay, I am going to be an honest mom," I said to her.
I let out a loud breath.
"I have not seen Raymond since earlier this evening," I explained to her and hoped she would understand and allow me to go search for him.
"Raymond?" She asked me.
"Yes," I said and nodded at the same time.
"That guy you were with today?" She asked me again and then chuckled
"Yes mom," I replied.
"He has gone home," she said to me.
"When?"
I asked her.
"That time you left with your grandma," she said to me and laughed softly.
"What is funny?" I asked her.
I suddenly became a bit annoyed. I do not know why she is laughing.
"You came looking for him?" She asked, but before I could reply to her, she asked another question.
"Do you like him?" She asked another question.
I shook my head.
"No, I do not and will never," I said to her.
"Why?" She asked.
I guess she was a bit confused now.
"He is my childhood friend. He is just an old friend. Don't you remember?" I asked her.
She shook her head and said," no I do not remember.
"You used to call him handsome r.r or Just r.r. Do you remember now?" I asked her.
"Is that he?" Mom asked.
She seemed to be very shocked. She lost her balance and fell down.
I rushed to her and she handed me a piece of paper.
"That is his number," she said to me.
I helped her up and she just walked away as if nothing just happened.
"Thanks mom," I said to her.
"Yes," I said with my right fists clenched tightly and slightly raised toward my face, just below my lower lip.
"You are welcome," she said and waved her hand in the air.
I began to climb up the stairs again, lazily and slowly.
I got to the door of my room, put my password and entered my room.
I went to my reading table and sat on the chair, brought out the piece of paper mom gave me and put on my reading lamp.
I brought out my phone from my pocket and dialed the number that was on the paper on my phone.
The phone began to ring, but he did not pick up, I tried again, but he still didn't pick up.
I tried eight more times, making it ten, but he was still not picking up, so I gave up.
He is probably asleep. I saved his number on my phone as R.R.
Funny short names.
R.R
J.J
What should I do now?
I am dizzy, but for some reason or reasons unknown to me, I just couldn't.
I wanted to do more, have some fun like watch a movie or play games, but I was too lazy to even raise my phone.
I removed the hoodie and threw it to only God knows where. I was just too tired to stand up and do anything.
I switched off the bulb and jumped to my bed.
"Ouch!"
I groaned in pain.
"Who is here?"
I asked, terrified.
