Rena began eating her food because she was hungry, but as she did so, she realized that the steak alone would not satisfy her hunger, but she didn't have enough money to get more food, so she made do with what she had.
The young lady had no idea how to begin her life, but her desire to learn more about her new home had only just begun to grow.
Rena may not have a family to rely on, but at the time, none of that mattered; she wanted to live her life to the fullest, no matter how long she had.
When the girl finished her meal, she walked out of the tavern, sniffing in the fresh minty air with a gentle smile on her face, when she felt the earth beneath her feet start rumbling and she swallowed as she moved slowly, but only then and a young man appeared before her and her eyes widened as she was about to scream, but he covered her mouth as her eyes trembled.
"Please don't cause a commotion," He said.
He was tall and fair, with long brown hair that was braided, brown and red eyes, and cute ears that resembled those of a cat.
"I'm going to let you go, don't scream, sheesh," He said, moving his hand away from her, and she sighed.
"You are Rena, right?" He inquired, and she nodded; he then smiled and bowed his head in front of her, and she flinched.
"W- What are you doing?" She asked and he looked at her then smiled and stood up properly.
"I am here to escort you to your new home, my lady," He responded and she smiled nervously.
"My lady? What are you going on about?" She asked and his ears started twitching as she stared at them and his eyes narrowed.
"I forgot you were new to this, I am a demon," He smiled.
'I am surprised that despite knowing I am new, he said that so casually, now that I think about it, it's going to take a lot to actually get used to this,' Rena thought as she started seeing blurry.
Despite the woman she first met warning her, seeing demons appear out of nowhere was a little surprising for someone who lived in a normal world with no magic at all. Raena was well aware that it would be difficult to adjust to her new life.
"Are you all right, my lady?" As she fell unconscious, he grabbed onto her, sighed, and lifted her into his arms before disappearing into the shadows.
While Raena was unconscious, she began to see images of a man, a woman, and a child before they vanished, and then she noticed strange buildings appearing around the world and shadows spreading over cities as her body began to tremble and she awoke from her sleep.
She had no idea she'd be gone for nearly two days.
"Where am I this time?" She sighed as she saw herself in a room, laying on a bed.
Raena then rose from her bed, feeling much better than she had when she first arrived in the world.
The girl approached the room door and opened it out of curiosity, only to find a long hallway ahead of her.
"You've got to be kidding me," She said as she exited the room and walked down the hallway which came to an end.
She sighed as she noticed a stair leading down to the second half of the building, which appeared to be home to someone wealthy; it was very similar to that of a mansion, and she went down the stairs and sat down on the couch in the living room after seeing no one else around.
"Lady Raena," Someone called out, and she screamed as she jumped up from the couch, turning around to see it was the demon boy from earlier, and she exhaled deeply as he stared at her.
"I see you're fine," He said as she lowered her head and clutched her chest.
"Please, I'm still not used to this, don't sneak up on me like that," She replied and he sighed.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you, I've been assigned to look after you, master will be home soon, sit down and I'll lay out the dinner on the table in the meantime, they wanted to eat with you," He said, and she smiled at him before sitting down, waiting for his master to get back while he went to do his work.
'I'm curious about this world; are all demons as bad as they say in the stories?' Raena pondered this as she lay back on the couch, reflecting on everything she had learned in her life.
Raena knew it would be difficult to learn how things worked in the new world because everything was different, and her first priority was to find a way to learn about the new environment and its cultures.
After more than an hour of waiting, the demon approached her and tapped her on the shoulder, and she looked at him.
"Did I scare you again?" He asked.
"No, you didn't," She responded with a smile then he sighed in relief.
"That's good to know, now come on, the ones who want you to be a part of their family is waiting for you in the dining hall," He said as she stood up.
"How did this happen?" She asked and he glanced at her as he walked away and she followed him.
"One is a high demon, he sensed your arrival and claimed you as family, which means no one else will know you're different here, there's a lot to talk about and I would prefer if they did the talking, I have been doing too much lately," He responded and she smiled.
"It's better than nothing at all, I will see where I belong in this world, I am not going to waste my chance at a better life, not now or ever, I don't care what others think," She said, and he smiled at her as they approached the dining hall and he opened the door then she entered.
