Chapter 14 - This is Unholy.. (2)

"Aaaaaaaaah"

Crimson's terrified screams echoed in his master's ears as they tore through the night sky. The thundering flaps of his wings were slow but created turrets of air that tore down to the ground below.

Just one flap had taken them far and a few more finally returned them within the boundaries of the dead City. His master flew past the city and over the moat entering the castle grounds he descended flapping his wings as slowly as possible to reduce the wind damage on the ground.

Once he was hovering right in front of the castle his feet touched the ground and Crimson was released from the vice grip that had kept him secure all through the fast speed flight.

Landing Crimson patted his head before facing his lord.

The beast of a being had his claw tapping onto his jaws while he stared off into nothing. His poise gave him a truly savage bearing.

"What are the first things we'll need to do here?" his lord asked suddenly his pose unchanging.

Crimson cleared his throat as his mind racked his head for a moment wondering what to do.

"The land is covered with too many corpses, removing them should be our priority. Deadlands or not I can't be avoiding bodies every time". Pointing it out he looked around the grounds his eye moving all over the half-degraded but still shockingly intact bodies.

Crimson though was in a world of his own. Various thoughts and ideas came to him. Somehow he had gotten into the service of a new Demon King. One that looked very formidable if one went by looks. Terrifying if you tried to feel for him.

It was like seeing a dark spot of emptiness in a vast white space. It was unnerving. Like a corruption slowly growing out.

'If I can get my coven here our standing in this new lord's rule would be high. He's sure to recruit members of the surviving Dark Faction soon. I must hurry up and place my family in a favorable spot'. while not greedy Crimson knew when to grasp benefits for himself and those he cared for.

Without a doubt, it was the best thing to do. Yet he felt apprehensive of just leaving his master to himself. While he was certain only a fool would be well foolish to attack such a being he still didn't want to be complacent.

In front of him stood hope for the Dark faction. He'd only just realized what this meant. Under this new Demon King, the Dark Faction could finally regrow its strength.

Things could be like told in the tales before the Old War. As such losing such a figure early would be a blow to all children of the night and darkness.

"My lord I request permission" His words caught the Demon's attention who looked away from the distance he'd been staring into and back to him.

After explaining what he planned and everything the demon nodded slowly a contemplative look on his face.

"How long would this take?"

"Two Solinards at the most. Just as a precaution ". Crimson waited for a bit before the demon nodded and made a gesture for him to go. Turning the vampire was about to speed off when the demon coughed.

"Is by any chance nudity a common thing in this time?"

Crimson puzzled by the question halted and shook his head while gazing at his master with a questioning eye.

"No. It's not. At least not amongst most factions. Why does my lord ask?."

The demon made no reply, Crimson simply noting its eyes moving down his body confusedly. A spark lit in his head as his eyes went down. He smelt the next question from a mile off his eyes widening in embarrassment while his cheeks went pink.

"Then why are you naked?".

******

I stood alone long after Crimson's departure. My head raised to the full moon that smiled down at me. Its love touch feeding me with unending energy.

I had been standing there long enough to watch the moon rise to the very center of the sky and that was when a tug in my brain had me frowning and looking at the Castle.

"Not again"

The feeling wasn't the same as the first time yet I was skeptical of anything that attracted me now. Sure I got a huge evolution from it but I didn't know if the bondage in a black space was worth it.

I was completely ready to ignore it and just find something else to do when the tugging intensified. Then a bright flash in my mind had me hissing.

Silence then the voice was back. Its tone was now bland lacking the former emotions it once used before.

-Your familiar awakens-

-Your bond is strengthened-

-You can now view the stats of your familiar-

Then nothing. Glad there was nothing else I looked to the castle top, already knowing that was where my said familiar was. A bit of me already knew it had to be Feathers. Yet the aura I felt from the castle and the presence in my mind was strange.

It wasn't threatening just not something you felt from a crow or was it a raven? Curious I spread my wings and flapped once ascending to the top of the castle spire from where I dropped into the circular room.

It was only now I noted that while the room was not in the higher parts, its walls were unobstructed forming a long cylindrical spire that rose to the top where its ceiling was gone.

Inside landing rather unremarkably my eyes scanned the room once before setting on the shape of something so weird it made my thick demon skin crawl.

Bound by vines that slowly slipped away as whatever lay inside wriggled and slashed at the bonds to free itself it shook itself in ways a living thing shouldn't.

The sound of bone and flesh breaking and stretching alerted me to the fact that this thing was completing a final evolution of sorts.

It didn't take long before it finally stopped then shuddered. The vines on their own accord slipped off its body allowing the massive thing to rise and stretch itself.

What stood before me was the personification of death. Its deep pools of black eyes stared down at me. Its lusterless black feathers absorbed the light of the moon streaming in through the roof and wall I had broken. It stretched its hind feet pawing on the like a bird while its front paws bent and rose like it was testing them.

Its body was so large that it was a wonder the room could contain us both. Then it spread its wings and my eyes widened just as the voice returned.

Its tone annoyingly was back to that of a gleeful child who just found a toy.

- Your Familiar has awakened -

-You have found the scene of a Mythical Event-

-You have obtained an Uno Fragment-

Uno Fragment - DEATH'S CAW -

Just a pet. A companion in an empty time. Its desire to follow has led to its rebirth. The Executors of what evil is defined. The sacrifice for a cause.

TIER - DEVIL IV

RANK - MYTHICAL-

-Uno Fragment accepted-

-Uno Fragment is acclimating with your body-

-Weapon Forged-

"Ah. That was close". I barely exhaled in relief at the close one. I had seriously expected another evolution and then a prison of darkness. Fortunately, it seemed k received something else.

Yet before I could speculate on either, the goddamned bird flapped. Its wings powerful enough to blow up the stones on the ground. The force sent it shooting through the roof.

"It could have just used the wall" I grumbled looking at where I had gone through the first time.

My attention went back to the matter at hand. While I was eager to check out the new weapon I got from a mythical uno Fragment I was more interested in what Feather's had become.

Summoning my runes again I noticed a new line below everything.

[FAMILIAR PANEL]

[AMOUNT] - 1

Looking farther below I paused, frowned then shook my head with a chuckle.

"Well it's no wonder the voice was so gleeful. This... this is just... very Unholy".
