Lin Yunfeng held his breath, hiding behind the wall. Slowly he poked his head out and took a look.
The rat was about four feet high with knotted raggedy grey fur all scuffed up. Even from this distance, he could smell the stench coming from its body
it had found the corpse of crusty he had thrown off the balcony. its body had been crushed and its blood was pooling out of it. The rat licked off the blood and, with one bite crunched on the cat's head.
The crunching sound as the bones got crushed in its huge incisors was bone-chilling. Lin Yunfeng felt his whole body stiffen up just thinking about that unlucky body of crusty.
Lin Yunfeng took a deep breath.
'if I have to have this building, I have to get past that creature and get to the bike….' he once again poked his head out, thinking of an escape route.
The rat had its back to him.
He could silently sneak out, but the rat's hearing was quite sharp, and it was quite close to the apartment exit. He needed to distract it.
Lin Yunfeng checked his body, searching for something useful. Throwing food was not an option. He needed to bring some for Lin Jing. frustrated he checked his pocket. He had a few squished gums.
'This will work.' He aimed the gum at the car in the farthest distance and tossed it as accurately as he could.
The gum hit the hood of the car, creating a loud ding sound.
The rat's body instantly stiffened. its huge nose sniffed in the direction and started to move.
This was his chance to escape.
Lim Yunfeng walked out and made sure his steps were as soundless as he could. He made sure to move steadily towards the bike that was in a corner.
But as he got close, he realized that hadn't heard any sound from behind.
A bad premonition came to mind.
A warm puff of air tussled up the hair on the back of his head.
Without looking back Lin Yunfeng instantly dodged and rolled on the ground, missing the rat's mouth by mere centimeters.
the rat screeched and ran after him.
So many cars were lined up before him. He climbed and jumped onto them, slowing his speed exponentially. But the rat was at ease chasing after him.
Tightly clenching the knife, he glanced back.
The rat was right behind him with its terrifying mouth open. Huge chunks of flesh and blood was dripping out.
it was just centimeters away from his arm.
Yunfeng turned back in a swift move and stabbed the side of its mouth.
The knife did not go through its thick skin!!!
It only managed to slice its pink gums.
"screeeee!!!!!!!!" the rat's loud screech echoed in the small parking lot.
Lin Yunfeng hurriedly ran into the apartment complex.
That rat's boy had a very thick skin. His knife was not able to stab through. It was as thick as pigs.
Gritting his teeth, he tightly clenched his knife. It was short and gave him a great disadvantage.
'I need to go for the eye or the underbelly.'
Those are the only weaknesses he could think of at the time.
'Fuck…' he had no way to exit the building.
He dashed into the ground floor hallway. The first thing he did was kick open one of the doors of the apartment'
A zombie rushed to him.
Clumsily, he beat it away with his curtain rod and raced into the house.
The ground floor of the house did not have a balcony instead it had a fully french Window. because of this only reason he had rejected an apartment that opened up in the first floor of the complex. It was so easy for any robber to enter and take all his meager belongings.
But this small thing became an advantage to his escape.
He dashed to the window. it was closed. He used his curtain rod to smash it open. The glass partially cracked and broken open.
With his sheet-covered elbows, he smashed it open.
Half climbing out, his disoriented eyes glanced back.
Reh rat had caught hold of the zombie and with one chop tore the zombie's head. Without pausing, the rat dashed towards him with the zombie's head still in its mouth.
"screeeeeee!" it tried to chomp on his legs that were hanging behind.
Lin Yunfeng used his curtain rod like a spear and stabbed the inside of its mouth. with the zombie's head still in, the rat was not able to close it fully, which gave him an opportunity to mortally wound it.
"SCREEEEEEEEE!!!!!" the rat shook its head trying to push away the curtain rod
Lin Yunfeng did not wait for even a second more in that house. He pushed away all the glass pieces and jumped out into the bushes outside.
he scrambled to the parking lot with the keys.
The bike he was planning to take was quite close to him. He jumped on it, started it, and drove away as fast as he could.
"scereechh!!!!!!!" the rat crawled through the window and charged after him like a fucking bull.
Lin Yunfeng hurriedly accelerated and drove as fast as he could on the dark, dingy road. A lot of zombies jumped at him here and there.
gritting his teeth, he drove with difficulty, thankfully his arms and his limbs were covered in thick sheet so even when he got bit he did not get injured
It was like pushing down a walking child. Most of the zombies were super easy to just push away, as they were weak.
But even so, they were relentless. they started to pile up in his path.
Lin Yunfeng immediately activated his thunder claw and slashed at anything that was grabbing onto his bike's wheels. he then ran them over and drove away.

he did not earn the soul point or extra star point for this kill. Because he did not go and personally collect it.
It was so fucked up that he had to wait until the zombie had been killed and take its soul point away. If only he had a skill that could easily help him collect it without touching it, then he would have been glad.
His bike swerved in the corner as he turned right into the familiar road that lead to the mini market. It was a smaller alleyway with a lot more connecting alleys in the back.
He immediately drove into one of the alleyways, shut his bike, and stood in the dark hoping that the rat would just not notice him.
The rat that was running at high speed screeched loudly again. His heart thudded loudly in his chest. 'Shit that thing is built like a tank. I bet even my thunder claw won't be able to hurt that thing.' his powers were showy but had fewer attack points. When he tried to attack that bike guy's zombie, he was still pushed back and did not gain any advantage.
He held his breath, watching the rat sniff the entrance of the right turn.
'fuck it's going to find me…..' he slowly got ready to start his bike and drove away.
But to his surprise, he heard a painful cry behind him.
He got off the bike and peered at the road. The rat was being attacked by a dozen or so zombies. They had most likely heard its screech and were all swarming on its back like flies tearing through its skin.
The rat easily shook them off. But the zombies were relentless. They swarmed it completely making it unable to fight back.
'Even though they are fucking weak, when they all join forces, they can take down even bigger prey.'
Ling Yunfeng leaned against the wall slowly taking a breath. His grandmother had once told him a story.
It was about an ant and an elephant.
The elephant, with its, might size can easily trample down multiple ant nests.
But a single ant can kill an elephant.
How? The elephant ear canals are sensitive. If the ants join forces and bite its ear canal, the animal will die.
The zombies had each other. They were a group of mindless flesh thinking of only one thing. To eat.
Each of them singularly might be weak as a newborn baby, but collectively they were fucking hard to fight off.
Lin Yunfeng waited for a while for the zombie to roam away after eating their fill of the rat.
They finished off that huge beast in just ten minutes. Only its bones and internal organs were left behind. That too a few zombies were sucking on it, drinking the residual blood.
So, he just waited.
As he did, he heard a rhythmic knocking coming from behind him, from inside the walls.
That did not sound like a zombie
He gently tapped on the wall.
Someone knocked again from the other side.
'Where am I actually?'
previously, he was in such a hurry to hide that he did not know which alleyway he hid in. he slowly poked his head out and looked around.
He was actually right by the mini-mart
