Chapter 26 - Perro Salado Discoteque.

It was already Thursday May 6th and the flow of people in the area was increasing, tourists camped on the boardwalk as close as the authorities and the insurgent army allowed them, in their cars and vans, and even in tents for the most hardened, of course, with firm metal fences crocodile proof, until the most awaited full moon day arrived, the Moon of May, which was never going to be more mystical or tragic, than that night.

At the Perro Salado, they took advantage of the expectation created by that full moon by announcing their own macabre performance, and at 10:00 p.m. the nightclub was already packed, starting their disco night with that guttural musical effect of the scream of the Count of Malibrán, in the impregnable Román mansion, the inhabitants were waiting, barricaded inside with the powerful protection of the mulatto woman from Córdoba, and outside with entire legions made up of the neighborhood army, 10 navy units with more than 40 well-equipped elements, the municipal and state police on the perimeter, and the well-organized groups of crocodile hunters, very well prepared precisely for that, to combat the famous infestation of lizards that accompanied the Countess in each of her demonstrations, in addition to a real fleet made up of 2 coast guards, a naval gunboat and dozens of boats and yachts from the media, which were waiting at anchor on the coast, immediately in front of that conurbation area of Veracruz-Boca del Rio.

The sky was clear with the full moon of May slowly ascending across the sky, only distant chords of all kinds of music could be heard, but more of disco music between the barks of Queco.

-It has almost reached the middle of the sky and not even the signals of the Countess. -says Adelina. -It is almost midnight and the cameras are still running.

Says Leticia Corréa, who was accompanied by a cameraman, who, by the way, was the same as always.

-Although I don't see where the Countess and her legion of lizards can enter, I can't be calm, because I can hear disco music in the distance.

Soledad says as she listens to the disco music coming from far away, music coming from El Perro Salado, and from one or another car parked a little more than 10 blocks away, where groups of tourists decided to go to have fun because of the impossibility of approaching the mansion area, and that is where it happened, while the security was reinforced in another area, the Countess arrived by one of the boulevards that did not pass by the shore, where nobody was expecting her.

The security guards of the Perro Salado only saw the Countess's carriage park in front of the disco and the line of tourists that had formed to enter the nightclub, was diluted among screams of anguish and terror, because hundreds of crocodiles that came out from under the parked cars, had surprised the tourists, Some were getting into their cars and some were distracted, because on that occasion, there was not the expected blackout that characterized their appearances, causing road and pedestrian chaos, because all the people who were inside the nearby nightclubs and restaurants, fled terrified from their facilities, in the presence of huge lizards that seemed to come out from everywhere.

El Queco barked constantly trying to get loose from his chain and Soledad stood up when she heard the roar of car engines, which in the distance could be heard and seen passing by the nearby fork of the bowlevard, but she could only confirm her suspicions when she saw the tidal wave of people running past in the distance, immediately the legions that guarded the mansion, moved towards the area.

- NEIGHBORHOOD guys, YOU'RE STAYING!

Says Leticia through a portable megaphone.

- LET THE POLICE GUARDING THE PERIMETER, RESOLVE THE SITUATION!

And so the volunteer guards of the insurgent army of the Román mansion, who had already begun to mobilize, became more entrenched, directing their forces to the side where the stampede of frightened people was approaching, everyone was confused because the lights were still on and although some motorists managed to escape, most of them crashed into poles, most of them crashed into poles or into other cars, making vehicle traffic impossible in the immediate area near the Salt Dog, where the tragedy was being cataclysmic, since practically all the facilities in the area had been destroyed, there were many dead and the wounded numbered in the hundreds, because the herd of lizards was still concentrated in that area, most of the police and firemen were approaching the area, because there were still many people trapped in the office buildings, hotels and restaurants, but no crocodiles were to be seen anywhere in the protected area, the Countess was still parked in her carriage in front of the destroyed facilities of the Perro Salado, and with a sinister smile the doors of her carriage closed, the lights went off and the engines as well, worsening the road chaos for cars and pedestrians, since the groups of tourists and crocodile hunters had begun to move uncontrollably towards the area, They were already uncontrollable for the police, who could not cope with so many wounded and people trapped in cars and buildings asking for help, while they themselves had to get to safety from the ferocious lizards, The marines came to the aid of the police, and at one point only the boys from the neighborhood were left in front of the Román mansion, who could not contain the hundreds of people running towards the mansion, and they knocked on the gate, thinking that it would be the only place where they would be safe.
