Rex was uncertain why. He felt that the table set up was the biggest problem here. First, Rex could not sense a Soul nearby. Second, the wording of the letter seemed a little too personal. Third, the inside just seemed a little too upkeeped.
To Rex there was no dust. There were no coverings to keep dust off. The plates looked like they had been washed recently. The silverware did not look unclean. The table seemed more sturdy than it should have.
The biggest problem of all, was the lights. It had a mixture of candles, oil lamps at the corners, and a fancy chandler over the table. The candles went across the entire room expect for where the door opened up to. Even allowing barely a millimeter worth of room. Everything seemed to locked in place. It is like the room itself built ways to hold the stuff in place.
"Fenggo, I truly have a bad feeling about this place. How much longer until you are ready to go?" Rex asked curiously.
"I would like to eat at least one piece of cake before we leave." Fenggo replied.
Rex stared at the cake. Something about it seemed to make Rex want a bite of it too. When he looked at the other dishes, he found some rotten meat. It took screamed 'Eat Me' to Rex. Finally, he found a lonely carrot looking dishes. It was not screaming 'Eat Me', or 'Poisonious' to Rex. Rex started to look at the other dishes.
He found that every other dish had at least two pieces expect for that carrot looking dish. He instead grabbed that plate and placed it in front of Fenggo.
"We each take a bite out of this." Rex said.
Fenggo was upset. She decided to take a bite out of it first. When she did, the room changed into a two contracts.
"Contract of Life" the right said.
"Contract of Death" the left said.
The carrot did not seem to belong to either one. Then Rex took his bite. Behind the duo, another contract appeared.
The rolling of the contract forced the duo to look behind them. There they saw it.
"Contract of Life and Death."
Upon getting closer, the contract seemed to glow. The insides of the duo did too. What made them worry was the fact that now a needle was above the contract. Both of them knew that this was a Blood Contract.
"Read it first." Rex said.
Fenggo went to it. She looked at it and saw the words were not clear enough to read. The needle seemed to drop out of nowhere and Rex pulled Fenggo back. Before the needle hit the floor, it returned to where it originally was.
The duo seemed to understand what was going on. A Blind, Blood, Sealing, and Forced Contract. As the old cultivators and people called it 'FBS Contract'. Most of the time, people would see the contract and be Forced to use their Blood to Seal the Contract.
That was not always the case, some would not see the Contract and go into it Blindly.
Seeing one in front of him. Rex knew the chances of leaving this place was now zero. Without a doubt either one loses even a second of focus. Their chances of survival is now one percent.
To Rex it was worth it, at least he would protect Fenggo even if it meant forfeiting his life.
"Fenggo, we have a tiny chance to leave with our lives. Unless you are one hundred percent sure you can trust this contract. I do not believe that we should try this." Rex said.
A faint glow appeared on the Contract. Only the Spider Queen could notice it, she was not sure why but her instincts screamed protect Rex.
She crawled out of Rex's Soul. She increased her size slightly. To fit across his entire head, she glared at the contract.
"Rex, this contract is a contract that allows one to live and one to die. Be careful of getting pricked." The Spider Queen said.
Upon hearing what the Spider Queen said, Fenggo placed her hand on the contract.
"I want control." Fenggo said.
The Contract seemed to become alive. The binding seemed to get tight around Fenggo's gut. It tightened and tightened. Before long blood seemed to drip from her nose. Rex stopped the blood from hitting the contract. He found napkins that seemed to scream contract on them. He took off his cloak and used it to stop the nose from bleeding unto the Contract.
The Contract finally sensing that Fenggo was about to die before any blood touched it. Instantly cut her in half, Rex was angry. Now this planet did not have a protector and the Shadow People could instantly destroy it.
Before the Contract could unwrap itself, Rex sat fire to it. The Contract disappeared instantly.
The other two tried to take what the other contract could not. Rex blew them up. He felt sorry for seeing such a beautiful girl die in such a way.
The body of Fenggo was taken outside by Rex. He placed by Fengbo's statue. He cried. He cried out of guilt for not protecting her. He cried because she was supposed to become his. He finally cried because the planet was now on the verge of destruction.
Nothing stopped the sorrows from leaving Rex's mind and body. Rex felt that eyes were looking at him. He could not have cared less. His mind was solely on the sight of the broken body in front of him.
"It seems the Contract was deemed a failure." A voice echoed.
A momentarily pause caused the statue in front of Rex to break open. The body of Fengbo fell down. His limbs sore and weary, his chest hurting beyond belief, his mind crumbling and reforming with information, his veins seemed to be in pain from the blood now flowing inside of them, and a hoarse cough seemed to hurt him all the way down to his toes.
"At least I feel something." Fengbo thought in agony.
