Rex and Tetsuo looked at each other in the midst of a battlefield. A war with the Foxmen behind Tetsuo and humans and demons behind Rex.
"Surrender Tetsuo." Rex announced.
"Only if my blood allows it." Tetsuo roared back.
The Foxmen behind Tetsuo wanted him to surrender. One by one, they began to lay down their weapons.
The humans and demons behind Rex also did the same. Everything was oblivious to Rex and Tetsuo.
"Charge!" Rex and Tetsuo roared together.
The swords clashed together, and massive Qi fluctuations pushed back both armies.
The duo began to just clash. Rex was naturally stronger, so just equalling Tetsuo was no problem.
Tetsuo was sweating profusely.
In Tetsuo's Dream
Tetsuo was an Eight Tailed Fox. Once, he began to focus on just defeating Rex. He slowly began to feel a new power inside of him.
Nothing but raw Qi flowed through Tetsuo's tails. The feeling of a new tail was coming. Tetsuo wanted to defeat Rex with his own power now.
Without missing a beat, different Qi attacks all came in different directions and smashed in Rex's face.
Another surge of Qi flowed through Tetsuo, and his Ninth Tail came out. A blast of Qi pushed everyone back.
Trying to keep his footing, Rex stabbed his sword into the ground. He had felt this kind of fluctuating Qi before and just had to keep his footing.
Once the Qi fluctuations were done. A massive Nine Tailed Fox tower above both armies. A flash of fire exited Tetsuo's mouth. Both demons and humans were burned to death immediately.
The Foxmen behind Tetsuo began to run away. The fear in their hearts resounded in Tetsuo's mind.
"I have nearly destroyed their army. Why are they abandoning me and the war?" Tetsuo cried through his mind.
Rex was not affected by this in the slightest. He held up his sword, and a swirling Qi of Water, Nature, and Fire could be seen being mixed together.
In the next second, Tetsuo felt that he had been cut into millions of pieces. He slowly began to see that only one slice had been done.
Tetsuo's head saw the body of his Nine Tailed Fox. He knew that this was a journey he had always wanted.
"Long Life the Nine Tailed Fox!" Tetsuo thought before his head crashed into the ground.
In Rex's dream
The sweat pouring off of Tetsuo was visible. Rex was not even trying to be curious as to why Tetsuo was not going all out.
He knew better than anyone that Tetsuo would be able to match him and any type of attack. Here, Tetsuo was barely fighting at all.
"Something is not right." The thoughts running through Rex's head.
In the next second, something hit Rex's shoulder. When he looked, a dart had landed on his shoulder blade. He could extremely potent poison entering him.
"Why?" Rex thought.
In the next second, Tetsuo cut Rex's head off.
As Rex's head fell backwards, a sinister smile on the humans and demons faces could be seen.
"I tried to bring peace and only got death?" Rex thought before his head hit the ground.
Both Rex and Tetsuo jerked up from their dreams. They both were heavily panting. The One Tailed Fox got scared by how the duo jerked out of bed.
"Are you two alright?" It asked.
"No." The unison sounded heavenly.
The duo quickly went to the canteen and got water. Even though alcoholic drinks were available for a good penny.
The duo just drank water until both of them felt sick. Tetsuo was the first to stop. Rex kept going for another six rounds after Tetsuo before he started to feel sick.
Both men started to think about what to say. They knew that this was a key to the test of wills. Neither one wanted to talk.
"I am ready to be separated." Rex said.
"You and me both. I am sick of not being able to sleep or cultivate in peace." Tetsuo replied.
Another moment of silence fell among the two men.
"So tell me, how does a fox become a male or a female?" Rex asked.
"Through the naming process once a fox becomes a Two Tailed Fox. Once the name is given, there is no turning back. Either the leader names the fox or if the fox has a special someone. The duo can name each other a common name." Tetsuo answered.
"That is pretty good." Rex said.
A few One Tailed Foxes came in. Breakfast was served to them. Tetsuo and Rex watched the happy faces on the ones that came in.
"We can no longer beat around the bush, can we?" Tetsuo asked.
"No." Rex replied sadly.
"That dream. We both had a death inside while being betrayed, correct?" Tetsuo asked.
"Yeah." Rex shuddered.
"Let us try not to make it happen." Tetsuo said.
"There is a way. I do not much like it." Rex said.
Tetsuo was surprised by this. He did not even know that there was a way. More than that, why did Rex not like it?
"What is it?" Tetsuo asked.
"I have to make you mine. I heard it from another Nine Tailed Fox." Rex answered.
Tetsuo thought about it. He decided to go ask the leader about it.
The duo got up, and the One Tailed Fox who allowed the duo to stay with them followed. The distance was quite close but still considered far for foxes.
The duo walked up the Sanctuary. While looking at the Fox Statues now. Rex could feel extreme hostility from them.
The worst of them was the three-headed foxes. Their gazes almost seemed to follow him.
Rex pondered if it was because of the dream. The duo walked in the Sanctuary.
The Eight Tailed Fox had just walked in the massive room himself. He looked at the duo with extreme hostility.
"Care to explain why such a war would happen?" The Eight Tailed Fox asked.
Neither one knew what to say. They were trying to find answers, but getting asked questions was not part of it.
"Honestly, it is probably because of me." Rex answered.
Tetsuo and the Eight Tailed Fox looked at Rex. They wondered why he would so casually say that it was his fault.
"When we originally did the test of wills. I met a Nine Tailed Fox, and it told me to make Tetsuo mine. I really do not understand why, but I felt that I did not want Tetsuo. Even now, I am still struggling to keep the mentality of staying together." Rex spoke.
"Due to the Nine Tailed Fox's influence. The two of you are destined to stay together. If one party does not want it, then that would explain the war dream we all had." The leader spoke.
Both Tetsuo and Rex froze like deer in headlights. Nothing was making a lot of sense.
"Follow me." The leader spoke.
