Rex walked closer to the end of the mine. While he walked closer, he would see more and more tree roots. He had almost given up hope to restore the mine.
That was until he heard the 'Ding' and checked the notification.
[Approaching Treant's Final Mine Quest]
[Does Host wish to challenge the Treant's Final Mine Conquest?]
[Y/N]
He, of course, pressed Yes.
[Once Host enters the final cavern, the challenge will start.]
Rex continued until he entered a cavern. When he did, he noticed how beautiful the center of it was. A singular glowing stone was preventing the tree roots from completely capturing the mine.
"I got you." Rex said.
A massive root flicked around, trying to sense who entered the cavern.
The tree root tried to wrap around Rex. A massive explosion around Rex kept the tree root from wrapping around Rex.
Outside the mine
"Should we keep on Rex?" The commander asked.
"Yes, we should. However, whatever is in there will be dealt with by him. That is the way he is." Amber said, clinching her fist.
That fact did not go unnoticed by the commander. If there were to be another explosion, he would dart inside to check on Rex.
Meanwhile
[Quest to Challenge the Treant's Final Mine Conquest will start when Host is ready.]
[Ready.]
[Best of luck]
Rex saw thousands of treants charging towards him.
[Please choose a basic weapon]
[Spear/Sword/Axe]
Rex chose the Spear.
Within minutes of thrusting, the spear. A few hundred treants had died.
This was because Rex was not using any Qi or special techniques. It was just raw strength and durability.
Rex had finally killed his thousandth treant when he got a notification.
[Congratulations, Host currently has gotten 999 Treant wood in inventory.]
Rex checked his inventory. He found that he did have that much. He was honestly depressed at such matters.
He did not have the time to worry about things like that. He had to keep up the attack.
He found that forty bundles dropped while he was attacking the upcoming treants.
This made the defeat of them better. He still had to keep up the attack.
What seemed like days, Rex finally killed ten thousand treants using only his strength and the durability of the spear.
He had to keep using the treant bundles in inventory to keep the spear from breaking during midway.
He also found out that he can shut off items from entering his inventory automatically. This helped out a lot. He finally got the inventory right at 900 Treant bundles.
[Congratulations, Host only used his strength and the durability to fend off the treants.]
[Reward: Spear Mastery is now at 75% complete.]
Rex was surprised that the reward was something this good. He had not kept up with how much progress he did during the Quest.
Before he continued, he found another notification waiting on him.
Rex clicked on the notification.
[Host has learned how to modify wooded weapons. Host can easily modify any weapon that is made out of wood. Depending on the type of wood used, either the durability or the raw damage of the weapon will be increased.]
Rex was pleased with that.
He found that once he took a step. Another notification came up.
[Host as killed ten thousand treants in just an hour. The Treant King is looking for you.]
Rex fell in disbelief. He remembered how hard he fought the last time. Thinking how easy it could be now, he really did not want to fight.
Once he took another step. Another notification came through.
[Treant Armor is in inventory]
Rex equipped the Treant Armor to see what it honestly did. He heard stories of people using it to scare others or to simply live in the wilderness. Equipping it now, he honestly felt that this was the worst thing in the Mortal Realms.
The Treant Armor made him look exactly like an Elder Treant. He felt that this armor could honestly be tossed into a trash can right now.
He had no way to dispose of it. He honestly could not release it without affecting everything around it.
He had returned it to inventory and waited for the shop to open up so he could sell it and get even a single coin.
"That armor was trash!" Rex shouted once he took another step.
The system did not give any notification once he stepped this time. He did feel something watching him closer.
"Please do not be offended. I just do not want anything to do with the Treant Armor itself." Rex said.
[System will take that into account for now long.]
Once Rex saw that notification, he felt that nothing would ever go right now.
"Can I have another choice of an armor next time, please?"
[Host may choose when another armor will be presented.]
Rex felt relief. Now, he could finally fight the Treant King without worrying about much.
Meanwhile
"It has been nearly an hour. I say, we go inside." The commander said.
"We should go see what Rex is battling against." Amber said.
The group slowly descended into the mine. There were a few tree roots but not as many as when Rex walked down.
The group finally saw that Rex was fine. There were several bundles of wood at his feet. The group went and picked them up. Amber found that she could use the inventory system from when Earth was still around. She placed a few inside for the time being.
Once, the group finally got all of the bundles. They caught up to Rex. The men were carrying nearly thirty bundles of the wood.
A massive treant was in the deepest part of the mine. A shake trying to break free from its prison nearly killed four of the men.
Luckily, they were faster and could escape to the cavern from before.
Amber and the commander were protected by Rex. The commander was protecting his subordinate.
"It seems like my life will end here." The Treant King said.
