I personally liked the personality of Edith and Caddock, they may be ambitious, but not overly greedy, and they seem to care about their people well being, although they started a war, it was really to keep their people safe in the future, not beautiful rhetoric to justify it for themselves. There are some points that I have to disagree with them though.
They believe that unification can bring true peace, even if done by the empire, though they were prudent enough not to try something like this. I believe true peace is too much idealism, though one that must be pursued in most cases.
Even if a country ruled the world, if it can not mend its inner conflicts and rule fairly, it will end in the path of tyranny, and it may breed a civil war and probably split. As well, to me and probably most people their no meaning in peace that only gives suffering.
My point is that the formation of an empire doesn't have any benefit for the people, though it can temporarily delude them otherwise. However, they would probably not copy the empire's path because of their disgust with the slavery practiced there and its cruelty.
I decided to give prophetical and philosophical dreams to make them understand my point and my ideas of how to turn a group of nations into a nation.
Later, I made an enormous flower appear near Edith. It was a special creation of mine that I expected her to be able to sense its value quickly. I made it a normal model of a flower from the fairy realm, but I input a very weak domain of divine path in each pollen grain, so the pollen grains were a sort of demigods grains, but not a rational lifeform, just a divine plant. The flower was, in fact, pseudanthia, that in simple terms is a cluster of flowers that seems like a giant flower, just like the sunflower.
With it she created the first divine honey that would allow one to form a true form or recover one that it did not was able to inherit from its ancestor, becoming a demigod or a god depending on the amount they eat.
To make the process easier to visualize I think I should describe, how beehumans do honey. They extract nectar and pollen from flowers like bees, but more magically, they have a sort of instinctive nectar and pollen-kinesis spell that allow them to gather the ingredients from hundreds of flowers at once, which they gradually used to fill a wood pot where they put the honey.
As they do not have a honey stomach like bees, they have another instinctive spell that allows them to form water droplets that digest the honey and nectar into a liquid that is harder to crystalize. And with another spell trey dry up the watery honey.
So, when she made the honey, she started with a transparent liquid(nectar), filled with golden dust(pollen); she turned it into a semi-transparent golden liquid; then after drying it became a viscous golden liquid that seems like shiny liquid gold.
Back to the story, if she have eaten it all alone she would have had a chance to become a goddess, but she ended up dividing it into equal halves, taking one and giving the other to her husband, which I'm glad to see.
She became a demigoddess with the ruler domain, but with a domain weaker than her ancestor, as she was only fifty percent goddess. Her husband became a demigod in the domain of war and was forty-five percent god.
With their growth into demigods and the dreams I gave them, their ambition grew as well. Now they want more than to keep their nation safe, but to change the beehumans history as a whole. As they adapted to their new demigods' powers, trained, and fought in the war against the empire, months passed. The empire was defeated and forced to spill out the Claeg's region which was divided by the winners.
With this war, after the couple was able to stabilize the regions that they annexed, the Paskwüw kingdom became a country nearly as powerful as the now-decayed empire at its pinnacle. After this war, Paskwüw neighbors started to gradually build up their own cavalry unit, but the couple was not waiting to be surpassed.
Edith started to develop policies to integrate the now absorbed territories: like building roads connecting its territory, abolishing slavery; abolishing all slave owners' noble status and making them recompensate their slaves and servants with the land; and many more.
As she was not going to lower herself to ally with slavers, it was better to make sure they have most of their power and influence removed, not negotiating with them and making half-ass reforms.
Meanwhile, Caddock was busily analyzing the cavalry shortcomings, coming up with contingencies for them. He ended up developing a better form of infantry, rather than the messy thing that only a troop without horses came up with, he developed better forms, that used things like shield formations that could be used to stop a cavalry charge.
"Are you ready?" asked Caddock to his beloved, with a mix of excitement, worry, and the tenderness that he usually has while talking to his wife.
"No one is for what we gonna do. Are you sure we should proceed like that? It feels like a gamble and too risky."
"When is a war not a gamble on fate, my dear?-" said Caddock. Then, putting her hand on his heart.- My heart beats for you. No matter how hard our paths become, I will still be there. Beating for you.
Then, they kissed and started what would be known as the last war. They forcefully annexed all the previous territories of the Trevena Kingdom, starting a war with all their neighbors at once.
Why they did do something so crazy, because they considered that it would be easier to unify the continent in a decisive war, and then drag it for years, as all their enemies, would consider to be at a major advantage and play offensive, rather than defensive.
Using defenses formation and the natural buffs that their soldiers got, while they use their domain with mana, they hold their own and defeated their neighbors' cavalry units, later using their own cavalry to end their enemies' infantry. And so they got a basically impossible win against their enemy coalition in a confrontation.
The rest of the war was them pursuing their enemies' army remains and avoiding them to reassemble, but focusing more strength on one to eliminate it. Later they took down the meek resistance in all the defeated nations and unified the beehuman continent.
After the war, they started to try to make heirs, because they got too worked up in their plans to even have even one daughter.
The beehuman kingdom was proclaimed and so the coronation started.
"I supreme priest from the Kessem temple crown you queen of all beehumans, Edith, the first- Said the man and continued." In my authority, I also crown you King of all beehumans, Caddock, the first.
The second sentence surprised Caddock a lot. It was not merely a breach of decorum, it was an absolute break of the norm, order, and law. If he look into Edith's face, he would be able to comprehend what this meant, something along the lines of 'I couldn't without you'.
And so people saw the most feared beehuman's commander shed a single tear from happiness.
