Chapter 46 - Playing babymaker?

David lounged on a chair in Black Bolt's private chambers, sipping on a strange moonbrew that tasted like a mix of coffee and stardust. Black Bolt sat opposite him, his usually composed demeanor slipping into something more casual in the presence of his old friend.

"So," Black Bolt began, turning to face David, "are you going to tell me how you suddenly became this walking cosmic enigma?

The last time I saw you, you were strong, for a human, sure, but not… this." He gestured vaguely at David, as if words couldn't quite capture his absurd level of power.

David smirked and leaned back, hands behind his head. "Let's just say life got weird. You know how it goes—one day you're minding your own business, and the next, you're punching gods and bending reality like it's a party trick."

Black Bolt raised an eyebrow, a subtle but effective sign of skepticism. "That's not an answer."

"Alright, fine," David said, sitting up slightly. "I ran into some cosmic-level trouble, survived it, and ended up with some pretty insane upgrades. Strength, flight, reality-warping, the usual package, you name it." He gave a mock shrug.

"But don't worry—I still put my pants on one leg at a time. Mostly."

Black Bolt raised an eyebrow. "Reality-bending is 'usual' now?"

"Alright, fine," David admitted. "It's not usual. But hey, I'm still me, just with a little extra sparkle."

Black Bolt nodded, though he seemed curious about the extent of David's powers. "And what are you planning to do with all that… sparkle? The people on Earth don't seem to appreciate you much."

David laughed. "You think I'm the kind of guy who plans? Come on, BB, you know me. I'm more of a 'wing it and see what happens' kind of guy.

Besides, Earth keeps me busy enough. Though I have to admit, people there are kind of... exhausting. Everyone's either worshiping me or complaining that I don't do enough 'heroic' stuff. Like, sorry I didn't rescue a kitten today; I was busy stopping a rogue asteroid. But no, I'm not leaving Earth. I've got someone there who keeps me grounded"

Black Bolt glanced at him. "You mean Emma?"

"Yup," David said with a grin. "She's my anchor. Though she does have a habit of dragging me into trouble. Speaking of which, thanks for entertaining her. She's probably roping Medusa into some harebrained scheme as we speak."

Black Bolt smirked. "Well, if Earth ever becomes too much, you're welcome to stay here. Attilan could use someone like you."

David's laughter boomed through the room. "Me? Moon royalty? BB, the council would lose their collective minds. I'm pretty sure half of them would faint if I so much as sneezed."

At the mention of the council, Black Bolt's expression darkened slightly. "Speaking of them... they've been more difficult than usual."

David tilted his head, his smirk fading. "What's the issue this time? Someone trying to steal your shiny crown?"

Black Bolt sighed, moving to sit across from David. "It's about Medusa and me. The council has forbidden us from having a child. They're afraid the child would be too powerful, too unpredictable."

David stared at him for a moment before shaking his head in disbelief. Then, without warning, he stood up, walked over, and bonked Black Bolt hard on the back of the head.

"Hey!" Black Bolt protested, rubbing the spot.

"That's for being a loser," David said, crossing his arms. "You're the king, BB. You're supposed to be calling the shots, not letting a bunch of stuck-up moon politicians dictate your life."

Black Bolt looked both annoyed and amused. "It's not that simple, David. The council—"

"—can screw themselves," David interrupted. "You want a kid with Medusa? Then have one. You think anyone's going to stand up to you if you put your foot down? And if they do, you've got me. I'll turn them into frogs again or… I don't know, moon slugs."

Black Bolt sighed, though a faint smile tugged at his lips. "You make it sound so easy."

"It is easy," David replied, sitting back down with an exaggerated flop. "Stop overthinking it. You've got the power and the love of a great woman. That's more than most people get. Don't waste it worrying about what a bunch of old geezers think."

Black Bolt seemed to consider this, his expression softening. "You always did have a way of cutting through the noise, didn't you?"

"Damn right," David said with a grin. "Now, when are you going to stop being so uptight and actually enjoy life for once?"

Black Bolt chuckled, shaking his head. "I'll consider your… unique advice."

"Good," David said, leaning back with a satisfied smile. "Because trust me, BB, life's too short—even for kings. You've got to live for yourself and the people you care about, not a bunch of old moon geezers who probably think spoon-bending is a superpower."

For the first time in a while, Black Bolt looked genuinely relieved and smiled at his friend's weird analogies.

"So what you've been up to here BB? got any new hobbies or genocidal persona ?" David asked sarcastically.

Black Bolt sighed, " Nothing much to do up here man. I did however got into reading."

"Oh, you mean cultural stuff like hentai mangas?" David wiggled his eyebrows.

"Not that kind, you freako! " Black Bolt punched him. " I've started reading a new story , it's called 'The King's Path'"

He then stares directly at the screen, " Go and read it folks and make it popular, like Trump wants to make America great again ! Hurry, before the author sells out and post it behind paywall !"

He then gave flashing smile with a thumbs up . "Enjoy your Youth!"

" Hey asshole! Only I do that 4th wall breaking thingy!" An angry deadpool popped out of nowhere .

(Just a little self plug by breaking the 4th wall, don't hurt me 🥹)

Meanwhile, Emma and Medusa were wandering through the vibrant streets of Attilan. The city glimmered under the artificial lights, its citizens bustling about with a mix of technological wonder and natural elegance.

"So, what's the deal with you and BB?" Emma asked, her tone casual but curious.

Medusa hesitated. "It's complicated. The council thinks it's best for us not to have a child, but it's not just about them. It's the pressure, the expectations… Sometimes, I feel like I'm carrying the weight of our entire society on my shoulders."

Emma nodded thoughtfully. "Sounds rough. But let me tell you something. Back when I first met David, I didn't care about expectations or rules. When he disappeared into space, I bought a spaceship and went after him. No plan, no idea where to look. Just… faith."

Medusa looked surprised. "You really did that?"

"Yup," Emma said, a proud smile on her face. "And if I hadn't, I might never have found him. I would've regretted that for the rest of my life."

Medusa smiled, her expression softening. "That's… inspiring. I wish I had your courage."

Emma placed a hand on her shoulder. "You do. You just have to listen to your heart. Forget the council, forget the naysayers. Do what makes you happy. If you and BB want a kid, then go for it. Trust me, you won't regret following your heart."

Medusa felt a sense of clarity wash over her. For the first time in a while, the burden seemed lighter. "Thank you, Emma. I needed that."

Emma grinned. "Anytime. Now, let's find some moon snacks. I'm starving."

Back in the chambers, David and Black Bolt rejoined Medusa and Emma, who were laughing about some moon pastry they'd tried.

"Looks like you two had fun," David said.

Medusa looked at Black Bolt, her gaze filled with warmth. "We did. And I've made a decision."

Black Bolt raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

Medusa stepped closer to him, taking his hands in hers. "I don't care what the council says. I want a family—with you."

Black Bolt's face softened, and he pulled her into a quiet embrace.

David nudged Emma. "See? Told you I'd fix him."

Emma rolled her eyes. "You're impossible."

"And you love it," David replied with a wink.

As the group stood together under the glowing moonlight, it was clear that for all their quirks, their friendships and bonds were stronger than ever.
