Chapter 8 - Chapter 7 : KUSOG

Kusog is an Ilonggo word for lakas or strength in English, one of the many dialects in the Philippines. Vilma is a woman who is successful and wouldn't be where she is without the strength to overcome adversities in her life.

One of it now being part, or a victim of PA. The once-successful businesswoman with her building is now stuck in an empty white room.

"Where is this?" She mumbled as she sat down and scanned every corner, observing with her eyes. She saw nothing but a wall and only a locked door up front.

"Hey! Anyone there? How much do you need?" She shouted thinking she was kidnapped. "Let me call my secretary I'll give you what you need just fuckin let me out here! Damnit!" She continued but, no one answered there was none outside.

[ Welcome to ENIGMA ]

A panel appeared in front of her surprising the woman. Her eyes widened but not due to fear, instead with excitement.

"Woah... Is this a hologram? Hey, for how much are you willing to sell this to me?" She shouted once again filled with curiosity then tried touching it but, her hands just passed through.

Words displayed on the panel then lights scanned Vilma's body, the curious lady raised its hands and its eyes followed the traces of light with eagerness. "Hey! What does this do?" She shouted again but, there was still no response.

She stood up from her position and started caressing the walls hoping to find hidden switches that could help her escape. But as expected there was still nothing but a door locked in between the walls.

"What? Player? Is this one of those generic teen novels that have been popular lately?" She asked herself right after the panel appeared thinking deeply of her current predicament.

[ Determining ability... ]

[ Ability confirmed: MORPH ]

"Morphosis?"

Bewildered by this sudden announcement, her ears tingled as she heard vibrations saw a vague image of a cave's inside structure, saw a mountain filled with green trees from above gliding through the winds, smelled kilometers away cookies burnt, overcooked on an oven, sensations she felt for the first time came rushing into her in an instant. A sun-like rune then appeared, imprinted at her nape.

"Ugh! What just happened? What was that?! That was so damn weird, does it got to do with my ability?" She asked herself holding her nape, she then heard a clicking sound at the door and as she checked, the door was unlocked.

She reached the doorknob in haste and right after opening it she was puzzled by the chaotic sight. Loud booms echoed through the place, and debris came falling in her direction which then made her duck visioning a turtle in that instance her rune shined, and she felt her back hardening feeling as if carrying a heavy rock at his back — she survived unscathed.

"I can do this?" She mumbled dumbfounded at what happened as she slowly stood back up dusting the scraps off her clothes "All I did was think of a turtle seeing how ridiculous my position is-" she cut off her statement as she saw a child in his casual clothes in front of a building from the other direction astounded — searching for his parents, she then runs for his rescue.

"Boy, do you remember me?" She asked the child softly tapping its shoulders worrying. "Ma'am, have you seen my mom? I can't find them anywhere." The boy responded to the woman with his eyes almost tearing up "Listen here boy, I don't think we're in the same world we were in before." Vilma explained to the boy but seconds later, people came rushing in their direction running away from something, and behind them was a giant statue stomping over everything in its way.

"Let's leave the questions for later let's hurry up and run," Vilma says as she held the boy's hand dragging him into a corner to hide. "I'm Cielo." The boy mumbled as its forehead emitted dim light then suddenly disappeared. "Boy? Where are you?" She asked repeatedly searching for the boy but he never left her side he was always been beside her but is currently invisible.

"Auntie, I'm here. I somehow t-turned invisible." He mumbled anxiously Vilma responded calmly "I guess that's got to do with your ability then don't worry, I too had turned into an anomaly." She said as she envisioned her hands into that of a wolf's paw, her nape emitted dim light as her hands slowly morphed into that of a wolf.

Cielo suddenly appeared again through thin air with its eyes wide open staring at Vilma's paw, "woaaah!" He exclaimed overwhelmed with her ability. "Shenanigans aside, we need to move. This place might be a dangerous one, come on Cielo, ah-right call me Vilma or auntie will do." She told the boy in a soft tone.

Things got better outside, screams and booms are still present but are not as loud as it was before. Vilma decided it was time for them to make their move and get the hell out of this ENIGMA place. Everyone is busy running and struggling to survive and as they got out from where they were hiding, a hooded man with a knife in his hand throwing it up and down like a psycho followed them behind.

"Cielo, hide yourself someone's at our tail we need to run away from it. I'll carry you," she says carrying the child into her arms who then faded. She started envisioning her legs into that of an ostrich, her feet started morphing and seconds later she was running twice the speed of the man behind them dashing with all his might chasing.

At that moment was when they saw the baffled young man in front of a building shaking the door senselessly and falling on his knees crying. She undid her ability and abruptly held the boy's shoulders saying "we need to move now, there is no time to cry. We need to move to safety!" The boy was astounded to see them for the first time then asked rapidly "who-who are you?!"

Vilma wasn't able to answer as Cielo suddenly undone its ability to point at the man chasing after them getting closer in sight. Vilma braced himself, mustering up the courage to finally fight against the man with malicious intent, she then told the boy to run with Cielo and find a hiding spot away from them to not get caught in the commotion. "Run!!!" Vilma shouted as she envisioned himself and turned into a gorilla rapidly beating its chest.
