Chapter 3 - Earthbending Powers

"Hey! Hey dude, wake up!" someone said with anxiety, shaking Henry so hard he almost cursed at him. Groggily, he opened his eyes and saw a panicky bald, chubby man looking at him with concern.

"Who are you?" Henry asked sleepily. "And why are you waking me up so early in the morning! Is there a Campus meeting I don't know about?"

Henry was a campus student, a first year majoring in film making and technologies. Due to his financial problems, he could only afford to stay in the campus hostels. His roommates were party lovers so it wasn't once he could find strangers in the room when he was waking up. One lucky day he even found a pretty brunette snuggling into him, making him unwilling to wake up. It was one of the days he was happy about his party loving roommates, but been woken up when he barely got any rest was a major reason why he loathed them.

"Campus meeting? What the fuck are you talking about?" the man asked him with a frown on his face.

"Is the kid awake?" another gruff voice asked, making Henry turn his head and saw a huge, mascular man made up entirely of metal pushing against a door.

"Whoa, cool costume dude. How does the paint look so lifelike, it should have creases around the laugh lines or the wrinkles on the forehead at this point," Henry observed, letting his inner showman out.

"Look like the kid's gone crazy," the chubby man told the metallic man with a regretful sigh. Suddenly, an earth shattering roar came from behind the door, making each one of them look at it with fear.

"What was that?" Henry asked, his heart beating so fast it seemed it would rip out of his rib cage.

"It found us!" the metallic man said, fearfully as he backed away from the door. Henry could see the gripping fear from their faces and he couldn't help but become even more terrified.

His love of film making had brought him to the wonders of technology on using CGIs or voice overs. He had made various monster roars just from a lion's roar itself and he would be confident in saying he could recognize a fake to a real roar and this...this roar just made his hands tremble.

"I knew we shouldn't have have driven through the zoo! This is all your fault!" the chubby man cried as he pointed at the metallic man.

"It was the safest way to avoid down town. You had the radio, it is crawling with zombies!" the metallic man defended himself before scratching his bald, shiny, metallic head. "What we need is to think ahead and stall." He suddenly looked at Henry. "Kid, didn't you say you had the ability to control earth?"

"I did?" Henry asked, trying to keep up with the rate of bombshells that keep exploding in his brain. He could hear heavy foot steps coming towards them, making his heart beat even faster as his terror started taking over his mind. He just couldn't comprehend how he came to this room from sleeping in his hostel.

PAH!

The chubby man had slapped him, bringing him back to his senses. He looked at at the man, only to see him raising his hand for another slap, making him shirk away from him.

"I honestly don't think I can do it," Henry told the metallic man.

"Well, you have to do your darn best, kid, because that mutated bear is about to have you and thickness over here as a late night snack," the metallic man urged him.

"Okay, okay!" Henry keeled to pressure and faced the door. He stretched his hands to it and took a deep breath in.

"Okay, Henry, you have no idea what's going on here but you are about to be eaten by some unknown creature. So, you can control Earth, you are a powerful earthbender, the bane to all monsters!" he pumped himself up, concentrating towards the door, not knowing his body glowed for a fraction of a second.

The door and the wall around it was broken apart as the largest most menancing brown bear he has ever seen came barrelling in. It stood a whole 3.4m from heel to shoulders and an intimidating 7m from head to rump. It's fur looked like it was jagged metal glistening in the light, some green like veins spreading all over its body, making it look even more threatening.

"It's a bear!" Henry was the first to speak as the others were still shocked. The bear gave another roar that almost blew them away then forced his way into the room, breaking the concrete roof above them.

"Kid, it's now or never!" the metallic man said as he backed away slowly.

'I should probably make a pit instead of a wall as I was planning. The pit should be large enough to swallow it up and deep enough it will only think of digging as the only way out. Now, how did those earthbenders do it?'

Henry took a deep breath in, closed his eyes and did his best to quieten his thoughts. Taking a deep breath out, his opened his eyes and stumped onto the ground. He could feel a seismic wave come out of his body, disappear into the ground before a giant hole just appeared beneath the bear. If this was a cartoon, the bear would have remained suspended midair before realizing the situation, look at the camera with a terrified look before plunging into the depth. But, the bear's own weight made it plummet down the pit just as sudden as it appeared, it's confused roars shaking the pit walls and as consequence, the building they were in.

BANG!

"Okay, that was..." the chubby man tried to say but couldn't find the right words to describe what just happened.

"Fucking amazing, kid," the metallic man praised Henry who was looking at his hands with an incredulous look.

"I have superpowers," he whispered to himself. The two did not hear what he said as they went to the edge of the pit and looked down, to see the bear trying and failing to climb the funnel looking walls, wide at the base, closing in going up. If they would estimate it, the pit was somewhere between 20-30m deep.

"I HAVE FUCKING SUPERPOWERS!" Henry shouted in joy. The two were so startled they almost fell into the pit. They turned to admonish him only to see him jumping in happiness.

"Maybe he really has lost it!" the metallic man told the chubby man
