My family travels around a lot, Every other year I found myself in a new city, town, province whatever you would like to call it because of my father's job. But sometimes it feels like we are running from something or someone. I could never put it passed these people I call my parents just kidding. My brain likes to wonder sometimes. I should write a book and make some money from it.
hai, my name is Chola Mulenga, I am 18 years old, and the only girl child of my parents. I have twin brothers Chanda and Chansa 20, 2 younger brothers Chimunya 14, and Chisha 12. yes, my parents have a thing with the letter C. OMG!! This is my last year of high school and my first day in a new school. Lucky for the twins they both graduated and are now taking a gap year in America doing some volunteer work. I can't wait to graduate and join them.
Pens, pencils, school folder, transcripts, transfer letters, map of the school, locker number. Check check and check. I think that's everything I need to get me through my last days as a senior at Morrie high school. Hopefully, I can make some friends.
walking down the stairs I hear my mother singing one of her favorite songs and dancing as she makes breakfast for her family. I always think of her as my superhero. She running her own online business which is pretty demanding but she was always able to perform her motherly duties. She took good care of us while we were sick, didn't miss any shows, and still managed to run her business.
My father on the hand is a consultant. He provides consultancy services for different companies. He never goes into detail about what it is because he believes he should leave his work outside the home. In the home, he is a father and husband. He does a great job at it. when he can't attend school events he makes it up with yummy dinners, watching our favorite shows, and just some nice downtime with the family.
"Good morning mum and dad," I say as I take a sit at the table waiting for my mum to give me my breakfast, now before you think I'm spoiled. My mum does all the cooking I do all the cleaning. So yes, I will sit and wait for my plate. "Good morning dear" my father reaches over to give me a peck. "Ready for your first day? he smiled. "Again" I responded with a cheeky smirk on my face. "Very funny," my mum says while she hands me my plate.
stomping could be heard on the steps as my two brothers made their way down to join us. I swear sometimes you would think they are the twins and not the actual twins that we have in the family. Always racing to do anything and everything. "Boys slow down before you break something" my mother shouts at the top of her voice. it's every morning routine for us... They run, she shouts, my father gives them an eye and they settle down.
"Morning", my brothers say in sync as they take their sits at the table. "Good morning" we all respond. My mother hands them each a plate and she takes her sit next to father. We say grace and eat our food in silence. Once everyone is done the boys clear the table and i do the dishes. "Chola" my father called me. Finishing up my chores I went to find my dad who was sitting in his study gathering some documents.
"Here" he tossed me car keys. It took me a second to realize it was car keys to the Mercedes Benz I had asked for 2 years ago. "Dad" I broke down in tears I couldn't believe it. OMG my dad was so amazing. " I thought you said we couldn't afford it?", "yes and no, at the time we couldn't but now that you are 18 you saved up most of the money needed for the car, kept your grades up and I believe you will uphold the condition of maintenance and taking your brothers to school" he smiled at me. Owh mahn how did I forget these conditions. It's a good thing, I learnt how to work online like my mum and have saved up enough money to look after the car. I actually had enough to buy it,but my dad getting it for me is just super amazing.
"Yes dad, I remember." I smiled. walking outside I see my Benz packed there. exactly as I had wanted it. I couldn't help but screen out loud as I walked over to the driver's seat and turned it on. I wasn't much to brag about things but this was goin on the gram. I needed the twins to see I got a new car. they got cars as well but never what they wanted. my parents spoiled us but we had to keep our end of the deal.
