" Do we really need to do this, Sister?" asked Yin Zhu as she lifted the hat that was sitting on her head slightly she carefully looked through the thin mesh of veil that was covering her face.
Earlier this day her sister has asked us to wake up as early as the rooster in the backyard of their neighbour's courtyard, Madam Hui and after a quick breakfast of nothing but some bread and butter, Yin Xia dragged her to the town. In Yin Xia's defence she said that without the usual heavy crowd that covered the streets of the town market to the brim and with every shopkeeper busy with their own thing, no one would pay attention to Yin Zhu.
Her theory was indeed correct, with the veil and the black dress that had not an inch of its curves sewed correctly dangling on Yin Zhu's figure like a tent dangling on a stick, no one paid any attention to Yin Zhu in the slightest.
Yin Zhu did not like attention, so of course, she had no complaints about the arrangements that her sister has made for her but the thing that she was the most annoyed with was ——
" Sister, can't I take this ring off?" Yin Zhu asked as she nervously tugged on the pendant that was specially made for her by her father, in the centre of the locket was her ring that dangled underneath her dress right in the centre of her bosom. It was a pretty ring with three rings of gold, silver and diamonds intertwined together, however just as she was tugging on her ring, Yin Xia caught hold of her wrist and pulled her hand down with a stern gaze.
" Zhu'er you know you cannot take the ring off," warned Yin Xia with a sharp voice, omegas were beings like roses that were bound to make anyone fall for them but at the same time they had thorns covering them, the mightier one wouldn't make any living being completely weak. The omegas didn't have strength or magic to protect them but they had a defence mechanism instilled in their bodies and that was their purity ring.
As long as the purity ring was around their necks not only the omegas were safe but so were the people around them, if anyone other than their chosen one was to take it off, the ring would kill that person. Either the person would be burned to a crisp or they would be molten like wax candles, each omega had its own defence purity ring and each ring had its own characteristics.
Of course, omegas could take their rings off with their own hands but once they did they wouldn't be able to hide their scent from the predators around them.
Yin Xia and her father never let Yin Zhu take her ring off for her scent were much stronger than the other omegas.
" It itches," complained Yin Zhu, she wasn't used to wearing jewellery and especially necklaces and pendants but her sister who did not want anyone to see her purity ring asked her to wear it around her neck, and it was getting stuck on her glands on the back of her neck. "It's rubbing against my glands and making me uncomfortable."
" If you want to work in the Bloodlock mansion then you might as well get used to this," Yin Xia tugged her sister forward as the two of them started to walk towards the clothing store. " No one can see that ring of yours and you are not allowed to take it off either, so you better get used to it."
Yin Zhu pursed her lips but did not complain further, she didn't want to let go of this opportunity by being sent away by her father. So, even though it was a bit weird, she still suppressed her urge to itch her glands that were covered by her silver hair.
" Don't be upset," sensing her sister's mood, Yin Xia couldn't help but lightly sigh. "It is not every day that you come to the town are you sure that you want to upset your mood like this?"
Yin Zhu did not want to be upset but in the end, she couldn't help but sullenly say, " Don't you think it's unfair sister? I mean what is the difference between the alphas and us? Aren't they beings like us who have two hands and two legs, who need to eat to stay alive?"
" They are vampires," deadpanned Yin Xia as she pulled Yin Zhu to the street on the left and then walked towards the small boutique that had a few dresses on display.
"Fine, they need a different meal than us but in the end aren't they just the same as us beta and omegas?" Yin Zhu questioned, to her everyone alive irrespective of their identities was a living being, she could not understand the reason for this division between the three kinds.
"And you ask me why am I scared to send you to the Situ mansion," said Yin Xia as she paused in her actions of pushing the door open. " How many times do I have to tell you, Zhu'er? You do not treat the alphas the same as you do with betas and omegas. I do not want you getting closer to them or treating them as you treat others, you better learn this or stay at home."
" Fine, Fine… I understand."
" And what did I say about falling in love with an alpha?" asked Yin Xia who was worried that if she did not repeat her words, again and again, her sister might just forget what she has told her.
" That you will break my legs if I fall for an alpha," replied Yin Zhu as she rolled her eyes and then placed her hand on the door of the boutique. " You are worrying too much sister, I am unlike those omegas who want to climb higher, if I am going to fall for someone, I am going to fall for their personality. And from what I have heard, the young masters of the Situ family all have trashy personalities, I am not going to fall in love with either of them."
