Chapter 11 - The King

***

Tonight the air in the city of Lyon is very cool, it has been more than a week that Esme has not encountered a ghost on the streets she has walked. Esme's life feels peaceful without the ghosts that often follow her.

As she was going to the metro station, Esme was surprised to see the girl's ghost looking at her sadly. Esme rubbed her eyes many times, she was afraid to see wrong. Hasn't he seen any ghosts in a week now? Why did he see her again today?

The girl's ghost approached him and lowered her head. "Sorry" was the word that came out when Cammile approached him.

"Too late" Esme snapped as she continued walking and Camille continued to follow her.

Esme's footsteps stopped, she was annoyed that Camille kept following her.

"Why do you keep following me?"

"Because only now can I follow and approach you" he replied.

"What kind of excuse is that?" Esme pouted.

"I didn't make it up! When I found out that you were saved by that king, I was relieved. You are finally safe in his hands. When I saw you back at work and I wanted to apologize to you, I couldn't approach you. I tried to force it, but my body felt like it was burning. ' Cammile explained.

"King? Who is he?" Esme asked.

"He saved you from uncle Leon" Cammile replied.

Esme thought for a moment, the only person who saved her was Oliver. Then he gasped whether it was true that Oliver was king.

"You mean the one who saved me was a king?" Esme asked in an elevated voice, Cammile nodded quickly.

" How do you know he is a king?" Esme asked curiously.

"We ghosts know, he was a king in the eighteenth century, he is immortal. I don't know what he did thousands of years ago to make him live up to this century" Cammile explained.

Esme still can't believe that Oliver was a king who lived thousands of years ago. Why does this man live forever? Is this a boon or a curse? But there was a lump of sadness that Esme saw in those cold eyes.

"Is he that great?" she asked again.

"Yes, he is the most powerful and very great king. No one can match him" Cammile answered.

"Which country is he the king of?"

"If that I don't know, all I know is that he is just a very great and powerful king. Haven't you seen the last seven days, you haven't seen any ghosts roaming around you?" Camille asked, Esme, nodded.

"That's because you've been in contact with him, if you only touch him then for seven days you will be shunned by the ghosts, the ghosts will not dare to approach you because being around you makes us like burning"

Then Cammile continued, "If you can kiss him, then the ghosts will stay away from you for forty-seven days".

"Is that true?" Esme asked in disbelief.

"I'm not lying, if you don't believe you can kiss him and you can prove it for yourself" Cammile replied.

Esme thought for a moment, if only touching Oliver she could avoid the ghosts would surely make her feel at peace, but the problem was how could she touch the man, even meeting him was difficult. Moreover, Esme had no contacts. After all, Oliver is not from his country, it could be that the man has now returned to his home country, Germany.

Esme erased her hopes, she didn't care if the ghosts would constantly harass her and annoy her. He won't help the ghosts anymore. Maybe it was his destiny, he was surrounded by wandering spirits.

"Why are you approaching me again? I will not help you, because I helped you almost lose my life," said Esme.

Cammile looked down languidly, he felt guilty for Esme. "I'm not asking you to help me anymore, I'm just happy to see you again today and to be able to talk to you. I'm grateful you're okay,' Sumringah Camille.

"Good! You noticed it" Esme was still annoyed at the memory of that night.

"I'm sorry once again, I didn't know that Uncle Leon could do such a heinous thing to you" she whispered.

Esme who saw Cammile 's sadness and regret was touched. He shouldn't be mad at the girl's ghost, the ghost just wants his parents to know that he died because he was murdered, not the suicide that most people say.

"Enough, don't apologize often, you don't owe me anything! Then how's your bastard uncle?" Esme asked.

"He's almost mad, I don't know what the king did to Uncle Leon, but I'm grateful that at least my revenge can be avenged to make Uncle Leon go crazy" he answered slowly.

"Then your mom and dad?" Esme asked again.

"They are still mourning because of my sudden departure, I made another wound in their heart. They are the best parents, I'm just a little sad when I can't hug and kiss them. I only see them from a distance if I miss them so much" Cammile couldn't help it holding back her tears.

"I'm sorry that I didn't get your mom and dad to believe me that time." Esme felt apologetic.

Cammile shook her head weakly, "No! It was indeed my fault, I even felt bad for involving you and causing you to almost get hurt. If only I had followed what they said so I could go straight home from school, maybe today I can still hug them, I miss them so much." ."

Esme took a deep breath, she and Cammile had something in common, missing family warmth. The only difference is that Esme might still be able to feel her father's embrace because she is still alive, while Cammile can no longer feel the warm embrace of her parents because she is dead.

This life has been arranged by God, we cannot refuse that destiny. Esme was grateful, even though her father didn't care about her anymore but her father didn't leave Esme alone.

Esme smiled satirically, remembering the sweet memories of when she and her parents were very happy at that time.

"Why are you sad?" Cammile asked snapping his reverie.

"Ah, I suddenly remembered the drama I watched and the drama ended sadly" replied Esme lying.

"You don't lie! I know you are sad because my life ended so sad right? Come on admit it !" Cammile taunts Esme.

"That's good! I don't sympathize with your life story! Esme sneered.

" Well, I know that you care about me! The proof is that you wanted to help me, usually, you always refuse to help the ghosts" Cammile teased again.

"I don't know at that time maybe I was drunk and stupid, so I just want to help you," he said Lazy Esme.

"I do not believe!" Cammile insisted.

"Up to you!" Esme replied nonchalantly.

They looked at each other and finally, they laughed together and without Esme knowing the people who were looking at her thought she was a strange girl and maybe Esme was called a depressed girl because from earlier Esme spoke and laughed to herself.
