Chapter 12 - Consequences

"Squeeze me dry anytime, anyway you want!" he replies with a passionate gaze, his pupils shrinking a little. "Do whatever you want~."

Hilde blinks in surprise. The next second, she punches him hard across the face, breaking free of his grip. Her knuckles stung, but it felt good to hit him after weeks of torture. She then walks away, heading straight into the bathroom and slamming the door shut.

Horus rubs the spot where she hits him. His face was burning red, but he couldn't show it. He looked over at the kitchen. He grabbed the mug and drank some of the hot chocolate, letting it cool down his throat. He then went upstairs and lay down on his bed.

The sun shone brightly, and Hilde sat on a bench, her bag by her feet. Her head rested on top of her purse, closing her eyes tiredly. The weather isn't that bad, but it is still early morning, and the sky is bright blue.

Hilde has just started to get out of a dream when she feels someone sit beside her on the bench. She lifts her head to see a man sitting beside her. She closes her eyes and leans back on the court.

"You're quite pretty, aren't you?" the stranger comments

Hilde groans and rolls her eyes.

"What the hell do you want, buddy?" she mumbles.

"Just chatting with the beautiful girl here. No need to be rude."

Hilde opens her eyes and looks over at the guy. Her jaw drops slightly. He had black hair that reached below his ears, which were covered by a cap. His brown eyes are hidden behind dark sunglasses, as usual.

He has a tattoo on his cheek, a tattoo of a red lip.

Hilde's jaw clenches. She hates tattoos. They remind her of all the horrible things that people have done. She knows it's just a symbol, but she still hates them. Especially when it's something like a lipstick stain, she wants nothing more than to rip the skin off his body...

"Look, buddy, can't you see that I want some peace and quiet?" she says in a low voice. "Could you please leave me alone and let me sleep? Please?"

The stranger shakes his head. He stretches out his arm and reaches forward until the tip of his fingers touches the side of Hilde's forehead. His fingers are cold and rough against her skin.

"You're not sleeping," he whispers.

Hilde flinches and tries to pull away from him. But he holds her firmly.

"Let go of me!" she shouts.

"I'm not going to let you go," he says calmly. "I'm going to enjoy every moment of this."

The man's arm turns into a large glowing knife, and he gives chase.

The adrenalin pulsing in her veins propels her forward, her legs moving on overdrive.

She runs through the crowd and separates from him, but he grabs her leg from behind and drags her down.

"HELP! HELP ME!" she screams while kicking the man holding her down with all his might.

Suddenly she's transported to an empty space.

She gasps for air and opens her eyes, looking around herself.

She notices that she's in a dark forest. The only light is coming from the moonlight that shines through the trees.

It's pitch black around her.

Hilde stands up and looks at the sky.

The moon shines bright above her, illuminating her figure.

It glistens on her clothes, eyes, and hair, reflecting in the clear water.

There is nothing around her except a few tree trunks. She slowly steps into the clearing, walking along the edge, trying her best to avoid stepping on anything that sticks out of the ground.

"This is the world within the relic." the man laughs.

He suddenly appears in front of her with the knife's blade raised.

He stabs her several times, forcing her to stumble backward.

The knife cuts deep into her flesh, and blood flows from the cuts.

"I've been waiting to do this..." he whispers.

"Why are you doing this?"

"Newbies like you should visit their superior the moment they step on another city!" he yells.

Suddenly, the knife is pulled out.

She sees him drop the a knife's blade in the mud.

He stares at the knife in awe, then at the wound on her abdomen.

"Ahhh... This is going to be painful," he says.

"This feels psychedelic," she says before fainting.

Hilde wakes up in an unfamiliar place. She's on a bed, lying on her back.

"Why would they brand her if she's not blessed?" she hears through her throbbing head, causing her to wince a little.

"Is she all right?" someone asks.

"She's fine for now, but we need to find out why this happened." a woman's voice comes from the other side of the wall.

Hilde frowns and sits up. She rubs her temples gently. A warm feeling spreads through her whole body. Then she looks down and notices how bloody and damaged she is.

Her heart rate increases as fear start creeping into her body. How did she get here? What is this place? Where did she end up? Who is this lady? Is she an enemy of Horus or not? She needs to call the police and tell them to come and find her. Her hands begin shaking.

"Don't display your 'tattoo' in public, miss." a man says, walking casually around the room she's in.

"It's you!" Hilde points at him, looking indignant. "Who else could it be?"

"Calm down, Miss. We don't want to hurt you. You don't want to cause trouble for us." he explains.

"Who are you guys?" Hilde shouts. "Where am I? What have you done to me?"

"Shut up and let me explain." the man smiles.

He approaches her and puts his hand on her shoulder, his smile fading.

Hilde shivers a bit. Her heart rate is starting to increase even more.

"We are a group of people that help those in need. We protect them and bring them into our world."

"I don't understand what you're talking about."

"Yes, I haven't touched it! Why would I have touched it?" she yells back.

"What the hell did you say to Ms. Jovanovski?" he rubs his temples in frustration.

"My name is Hilde! And I told her to stay away from me!"

"That's enough! I told you to calm down and stop panicking."

"How am I supposed to calm down when someone who claims to be protecting me is trying to kill me? Let me go!"

"Oh dear!" he leans forward and embraces her. "I am so sorry. It wasn't my intention to scare you." he kisses her forehead, soothing her. "I thought you weren't scared of anything."

"What the fuck? Is this how you pick up girls?" she starts squirming and pulling away from his grasp.

He sighs and lets her go. "Miss Jovanovski said you were a very brave girl, Hilde, but I never expected you to be this stubborn."

"She kidnapped me and tortured me for almost a week! How dare you say that I'm brave!" she exclaims.

"You know, we have already explained everything to you. If you keep fighting, there's a high chance you'll lose," he tells her sternly.

Hilde doesn't say a word.

"Now come on. We'll take care of you. Don't worry."
