When the soldiers were attacked by an invisible force, Xash was able to recall that the leader of the faction was a mermaid. She could create sirens with her powers and these sirens were the ones that killed half of the Villain soldiers.
The sirens would possess the minds of the soldiers, making them unaware of what was happening around them. Then once they have been fully possessed so that they wouldn't be able to fight back, they will be killed by those sirens.
Upon realising this, Xash ordered the General to retreat, and turning invisible, he approached those with abilities in the Theodore army, stripping them one by one.

As Xash approached these people, he could see the ability they have, hovering above their heads. Most of them have the same ability, probably because they are from the same family or somehow related. But Xash was able to strip them all.
