There were now five students standing in the hallway. The three students who walked past Veron and Skye earlier, Veron's mate, and a different girl in a black dress, who Veron was seeing for the first time that day.
One of the three students landed a slap on the cheek of the new girl, and before she could react, Veron's mate returned the slap and added a second one.
This was the scene Veron and Skye met as soon as they reached the hallway. Veron stood still, frowning as he set his gaze on his mate, who was glaring at the girl she just slapped as if she would add another slap at the slightest provocation.
"Hehe…" Gerrard laughed. "And somebody said she is a weak human. She doesn't look weak to me." Gerrard remarked, but Veron ignored him.
"Which one?" Skye whisper-asked, setting his eyes on the girl in black that received the first slap. In his heart, he already decided it was her. All he was waiting for was confirmation from Veron.
"Brown hair, grey shirt." Veron's answer reached his ears, disappointing his expectation. He frowned as he shifted his gaze to the person Veron just described, and lots of questions immediately registered in his head.
Most prominent of all the questions was why she was dressed in such clothes. If not for her face, one would mistake her for a man.
At that moment, a fight ensued, as the two males from the group of three, moved to attack Veron's mate and the girl in black. But before it could get serious, some doors flew open and people, who Veron suspected to be staff members, came out to break up the fight.
The five students were escorted into a different office and the door was shut.
"Find out everything you can about her and meet me upstairs," Veron instructed, then turned around the next minute and walked away from the hallway.
"I hope you are happy now, drama queen?" Veron asked Gerrard, who was wagging his tail happily.
"I am a king. Not a queen." Gerrard growled, stopping his tail from wagging as Veron's statement just killed his excitement.
"King my foot. You are a pain in the ass."
"And you should be grateful I decided to stay in your ass. If I choose somewhere else, I'm sure you would be screaming my name all day and night."
Veron's jaw fell slack at Gerrard's reply. This stupid wolf always has something to counter his words and leave him dumbfounded.
"Pervert. Get out of my head."
"Your head?" Gerrard gasped. "How can I get out of your head when your head is also my head?"
"Then shut up. I have a meeting to attend. I don't want to hear your voice again." Veron said in a stern voice and breathed out in relief when Gerrard said nothing further. However, before he could take the next step, Gerrard's voice echoed again.
"From the moment I met you boy,
I knew that your love would be,
everything that I ever wanted in my life.
From the moment you spoke my name,
I knew everything has changed,
Because of you I felt my life would be complete.
Oh, baby I need—"
"GERRARD!" Veron growled, effectively stopping Gerrard from continuing the annoying song he was singing.
"What? You don't like my song? Should I sing a different one?"
"SHUT UP!" Another growl erupted in Veron's head, clenching his jaws in annoyance as his head was beginning to ache.
Gerrard said nothing for another three seconds before his voice rang out again.
"I will only agree to stay quiet because you are enrolling in this school as per our agreement. Also, because you need to ace this meeting and I know you are not in good condition."
Veron breathed out again, then resumed his steps, only to hear Gerrard's voice again.
"And so you know, that song has become my best song. You should sing it to our mate someday." After saying this, Gerrard finally disappeared from Veron's head, giving the latter the peace he needed at that moment.

Three days later...
Skye walked into the office with an envelope that he dropped on Veron's desk.
"Congratulations. You are officially a student of Grimshigh College. You will be resuming in three months, department of environmental management, Junior year." Skye announced.
"Just me?" Veron asked, lifting his head from the paper he was reading, and setting his eyes on Skye.
"You and I, of course," Skye said in dismay. He didn't want to go back to college, but in this case, he had no choice. The only consolation he had was that they would be spending two years instead of four in the school.
"Good. And the girl?" Veron probed, lifting one of his brows.
"Her name is Karina Harper. She's nineteen. Lives in Kwari Town, but currently stays at the school hostel.
The girl in black is her kid sister, Nori Harper. They are in the same level and department. I couldn't get information on how that happened. But I learned they are very close and protective of each other." Skye reported, and Veron nodded.
Even without Skye mentioning the last part, from the scene that unfolded right before his eyes, he already knew they looked out for each other.
Thinking about it, a bitter smile crossed his features as he thought about his siblings. If they were to be the ones in that position, they would have joined his attackers to beat the hell out of him, if possible, end his miserable life right there.
"Three months huh?" Veron asked thoughtfully. Three months and he will return to Grimshigh College as a student, just to satisfy the craving of his stupid wolf.
He wouldn't talk to her, or have anything to do with her. He would just indulge in her wonderful, addicting scent until they would graduate and go their separate ways.
Little did he know that exactly one year later, she would show up in the same club where he was, and almost fall into the hands of slave traders, forcing him to break his vow of never talking to her.
