Huh?
HUH?! Wait, me? (''Why me? There must be a mistake! I am just a normal human from a backwater village in the north. There must be some kind of mistake!'') It really can't be possible for a goddess to look for me. She must be supervising me then, right?
But nothing has ever happened to me to warrant the supervision of a goddess. I've never committed any crimes, never even touched into black magic despite the temptation. So why?
(''Well young Abby. You are…special. In the future, you will grow powerful, so powerful that I have decided to look out for you. There will be those who seek your power for themselves. And there will be those who wish to guide you to a path of darkness. So I, along with my fellow gods, have concluded to watch over you.'') She explained calmly despite my agitation. Her tone remained constant but her eyes avoided my own. Like there was something more she was hiding. Just who is this goddess?
I have to trust her because she saved my life, even when she hides the full truth. But there must be a good reason for this. Being watched by a goddess was a privilege only a few were indulged with. Being among those was certainly an honour but it did raise some flags in my mind.
And I can't help but like knowing that I will be powerful. Strong enough to warrant supervision. I suppose this wasn't the last chapter of my epic after all. (''What kind of magic will I posses in the future Lucet?'') This was a fair question, I am guessing my growth will expand with more magic.
(''Well…-'')
I fidgeted impatiently, waiting for her to answer me. I bet its something amazing like ice. I've been studying a lot about it-
(''I have no idea. Tee Hee'') She looked at me, dead in the eyes. Making her silly expression.
(''So…You know I will become incredibly powerful. To a horrifying degree. But you don't know how? Pretty lame for a goddess!'')
She was clearly stung by my words. Dramatically enacting a scene where she had been stabbed through her heart. Reaching for the skies above to be saved. Maybe she was just a talented actress and not a goddess.
(''Listen listen. I don't know how because I wasn't given that much detail. She hadn't said more than to keep watch over you.'') She? Who is she? It must be one of the fellow gods Lucet was talking about.
Well, I don't see a point to complain about the situation I am in. I'll just enjoy the trip and the honour granted to me dubiously. From the information let out to the public there are a total of five gods. Lucet, Israh, Kronos, Iran and Ireul.
Lucet obviously being the goddess of Light. Aside from her, Israh is the goddess of Death. Israh is the most feared goddess from the Viridian war. Over one thousand three hundred years ago, a war broke out that encompassed the Viridian waters. The first King, Rosedreamer, was voyaging on a large vessel carrying thousands of passengers across toward Bitum.
Israh was disgusted by the thought of them crossing through her territory, which made her take action and attempt to swallow the whole ship with the turbulent waves. If Rosedreamer hadn't been there she would've succeeded. But he struck back, a human the same as I, fought on equal terms with the incarnation of death.
It is taught in schools of the battle between them. Rosedreamer is hailed as a hero for battling with the blood crazed Israh. Though she slew hundreds on that very ship, she ultimately failed in tearing it apart.
A tradition of adding RD to the name of every vessel to honour Rosedreamer's bravery has been maintained since that very moment. Some even name the boats as unsinkable after adding that to the name. Though it ends up being a mistake in the end when they do eventually sink from the violent waves throughout the oceans.
Next was, Lord Kronos who rules over the church of Kronos along with his four archangels and high priests. They are dispatched to rid the world of any who dares to meddle with the concept of time. This sometimes involves the process of a person or monster becoming a lich.
The church itself also offered to place armed personnel in every town and city across the world. In terms of followers it is matched only by the Luminous Church who worship Lucet. They rarely squabble on matters like follower count unless it's about profit. The gods seem to love comparing wealth to an unholy degree.
Besides them there are two other gods. Ireul, who is known as the god of harvest and fertility of land. He turned down the Bitum Committee when they asked him to start a church of his own. In turn he created a society for the study of crops. He is hailed as a genius in the field and with that came his fair share of riches.
And last but not least is Lord Iran. He lives in a very secluded part of the Sigfisetr mountain range. In those meandering and confusing tunnels is where the Cult of Plague resides. They do worship a 'god'. Though not Lord Iran but his daughter who can foresee the future plagues and diseases that hit the masses. Thanks to them the world has been saved many times over and they receive huge donations from the public.
Lord Iran is one of the most prominent figures in the world of scholars. He releases almost all of his paperwork to universities around the world so that people can touch on his divine knowledge.
Bitum even holds festivals for his successes every year. Competition and contests to show that someone has what it takes to work with him. These are hosted by his personal doctors. He uses them as if they were his arms and legs. Each one possessing monstrous strength and high magic affinities.
Each god has their own main magical affinity from birth in which they can sense all other users. Aside from Kronos and Israh, the others are able to bestow a power similar to their own to disciples.
(''-Abby-'') Huh. Lucet seemed annoyed at me, it was written all over her face that something was wrong.
(''You have been spaced out for over ten minutes! Do you know how bored I have been?'') Ten minutes? It felt like a single minute to me. (''I'm sorry Lucet.'')
Her face darkened, veiling her gleaming eyes. All I could make out underneath was a slight frown. It looked misplaced on such a pristine face that you would almost feel upset when she wasn't happy. (''I-I'm sorry please don't be upse-'') That's when her frown turned into a smirk. Revealing a devious sparkle in her eyes.
(''I was going to give you the core of that voidling. It would have helped you grow your own shadow frin capacity.'')
(''But I guess that you don't seem to want it. Oh how many times I called for you, only for you to ignore me.'') Her tone was starting to grow annoying. How could she have such a wondrous voice only for it to be used to taunt me.
(''Please Lucet. May I have it?'') That would help my growth so much, I might even catch up to Zeraf with it.
(''Well since you asked nicely I'll give you the chance to earn it!'')
Yes! I knew she was a merciful goddess-
(''Kiss me.'')
(''Huh'')
(''What is it Abby?'')
(''I could've sworn you just said kiss me.'')
(''You are correct!'')
What!?!?! I can't kiss a goddess, that has to be sacrilegious! All of her followers would form a crusade to end me.
(''What are you hesitating for? You get to kiss a goddess and receive a precious core. Or by chance you would like to touch my-'')
(''Nope. Nope. Stop talking. Fine take your stupid kiss, just don't bring that up again!'')
She leaned forward with a victorious smile, waiting to be kissed. Her red lips were pursed slightly, patiently waiting to meet mine. I can't believe I have to do this.
I closed my eyes and leaned forward. A warmth spread across my lips as they pressed against hers. Two arms wrapped themselves around my back and pulled me in. (''-Hey this wasn'-'') Shit. She tricked me! I found myself wrapped in her arms being kissed by this goddess.
Cheeks! Don't redden now! You will give her the wrong idea! She doesn't need to know how I feel about this situation. Her arms squeezed tighter and tighter and our lips pressed together even more intensely. I could feel something trying to break through the layer of lips.
My head burned and my form changed into a puddle of darkness getting ready to jump out of the cart. She hurdled an arrow of light at the darkness surrounding me, instantly ejecting me from my shadow form.
Phew! At least I got out of there.
She licked her lips and giggled at me. (''You are adorable Abby. I just know we'll have so much fun together in the future.'') She winked at me as she placed a hand between us.
This woman…is dangerous. More So than Void. Zeraf please wake up soon!!
