Brick had almost had enough of Shane already and he had not even been around him for that long.
Shane appeared fewer times in the novel and was often portrayed as the uncle of the protagonist that had often sucked up to higher powers while squandering the families resources.
If he could not keep his connections and prove his loyalty to those he followed then he was willing to make all kinds of cruel decisions.
The most notable decision which was pointed out was having Lucy turned over to such an organisation that had experimented on her until her death and rebirth.
Nothing was mentioned further about how his fate turned out along with Tanya after Lucy's death and his usefulness had ran out.
If Brick had to guess then he would have most likely kept making such decisions sacrificing others for his own sake until he no longer had anyone else to make use of or rely on.
If that was the case then it was very likely that Tanya was just as much of a victim as Lucy and could have suffered a lot due to her father.
If she was constantly suppressed then her growth of her powers would have been slow so her survival rate was much lower.
If she was kept in such a state then she would have not been able to do much about who ever she was handed over to by her father.
Judging by her father's poor judgement of character, Brick could easily guess that Tanya would have suffered a lot at the hands of who Shane had chosen to hand her over to yet she still suffered a terrible fate at the hands of Lucy in another life.
If there was one major issue that was driving towards many tragedies then it would be Shane.
Tanya straightened her back and continued to stare into her father's eyes without looking away or flinching. "Since you mentioned that.. what happened with the outer gates? Having nobody to let people inside or watch the outer walls is a major problem."
Shane frowned again. "So you want to take this time to throw blame at your father now huh? Fine then. I called back my people to clear out the remaining problems within the inner walls. It was difficult enough to keep those I could trust around me and have them carry out such tasks."
His meaning was that he had a difficult time getting the inner walls properly cleared out of the zombies that had remained inside of any of the buildings.
Securing any needed supplies from such places had become a priority for their continued survival until he could secure anything else.
He could not just leave such tasks to anyone especially when there were those he trusted far less and saw as less useful.
If he had control of the current supplies that remained then he could use that to keep people needing him.
Tanya crossed her arms and looked a little colder. "It is not much of a good excuse since you all should have been aware of our situation and arrival. Why did you not inform the others in the outer permitted? Why are you not even making use of them?"
Shane responded coldly. "Those useless and disloyal bunch? They should be able to do those things themselves so why should I have to bother constantly catering to them when I am already busy enough as it is?"
Tanya responded. "You will find that they are not useless and can be made use of in many ways. You just need to know how to better control and motivate them. So many problems can be overcome that way.
Unless you plan on kicking out anyone you deem useless and not completely loyal to you then it will be difficult to find the numbers to do anything decent. Anyways onto the plan I had in mind for the people I brought and those you find useless.
There are many problems concerning security of the walls so traps need to be set to better prevent anyone entering. There needs to be a plan to secure medical supplies and other needed supplies.
If you have plans on retrieving more food then we need more than those you have kept close to you. We need others who can provide uses that others could not which will be invaluable to our survival.
Most of all.. we need a main system in how we can ration and distribute everything we have so that it is fairly given out to those that contribute and that our supplies do not run out."
Shane felt a headache coming on as a long list of things kept piling up one after another that had had yet to encounter or things about. "So what does this and that have to do with each other?"
Tanya stated. "There needs to be a security and management system in place but also a place for development and other tasks. For that.. you need people and supplies which we have more people now but still lower supplies.
This is why those people I brought will be useful. I plan on forming a group that will work to scavenge and retrieve whatever we can. This way we can sustain ourselves and ever hope to make any bigger plans beyond simply surviving."
Seeing the doubt in her father's eyes, Tanya raised her palm facing upwards. "The world is changing and even the most useless people can have very unexpected uses and talents. Even I am among those that have been blessed."
A flame appeared over her palm which was shown to Shane before being extinguised. "If you keep thinking others useless then you could turn away someone valuable. So father.. what do you think?"
