Chapter 72 - Tanya’s Bravery

Tanya was brought up with the protection of the security guards and others who worked for her father.

She hated them but also needed them due to her status as the daughter of a rich family.

There would always be sinister plots hidden somewhere as people grew jealous of her background or achievements.

It was not uncommon for someone of her background to be plotted against by others in similar backgrounds or by others that were not aware of her status.

Those greedy for her families money could just as easily plot to have her kidnapped for ransom.

Whether it was bullying or more harmful situations, she had her bodyguards to pick her up and keep her safe from such threats whenever she was away from home.

That was why she needed them and why she knew how important it was to keep them around her.

Not having them at the party when others her father assigned her to keep company was the only time when there was less of a presence from the bodyguards who escorted her.

They were staying in a well known hotel where it was safe so it was safe to stay the night there without anything major happening.

What was not accounted for was the harm that could be brought upon her by those who her father wanted her to meet or the present turn of events nobody could have predicted.

Tanya knew all too well that it was just their job and that they were just doing what they were payed to do but she still found them all irritating.

They were all like her fathers loyal dogs who watched over her all the time and reported everything back to her father.

If it was something her father had specified they handle then they would even take actions to interfere in her personal life.

She hated that they could just step into her life so suddenly and interfere with just a single order from her father.

A lot of problems in her life happened due to her father's orders and the bodyguards following them so she definitely had no love for them.

It was more like disliked them but she could not turn them away since they did not follow her orders.

They only followed the orders of her father and it was difficult to speak up against them to be assertive enough to get them to back off.

Tanya had never spoken to them in such a tone before so full of assertiveness which caught Homer by surprise.

Tanya did not see Brick like the other bodyguards since he had already said that he would be sticking with her over her father so she needed to protect the sole person she would have to rely on in the future.

Her brows knit and a slightly cold frown appeared on her face as she gazed towards Homer. "Did you not hear me? I said step aside and let this matter go. I ordered it all and I have my reasons for doing so."

Homer crossed his arms over his chest and looked like he was considering her words until he regained his courage once again. "Young miss, the masters orders were to.."

He was about to explain further and use her father's words to let her leave matters to him to handle.

Her father's orders were what mattered the most and they had been ignored by a mere young trainee that was being sponsored by the family.

Some punishment had to be done otherwise everyone would be able to think they could get away with just about anything.

Even if the orders were given by Tanya to Brick to do so, it was still Brick's fault for not recognising the importance of who ranked higher within the family.

They all served the family head in the end and the words of Tanya held little weight over anything even if she was the young lady of the Reed family.

Her father outranked her and that was what he wished to convey to both Tanya and Brick.

Brick was in the wrong for believing that Tanya's orders held more importance than the masters.

Just as he was speaking, he was cut off by Tanya who spoke in a much colder tone. "I said.. let it go. I will talk to my father about this once we get back home. Brick is my bodyguard that I picked personally. You can check it if you need to once we are back home."

Her meaning was that she had been the one to help get the approval of Brick to enter the family in the first place.

Her father may have went along with it but it was still considered as a gift to his daughter so technically Brick was hers and not her father's property.

It was not like her father could pay Brick any wages anymore so it was Brick's right to stay with her.

If it was the normal world before the apocalypse then it would have been easy for her father to dismiss Brick and make him homeless at the snap of a finger but the current situation was much too different.

There was no longer a need for money and the only thing that Brick needed was a roof over his head.

Shane could take back the house from Brick but Tanya could always caused problems of her own if he did so.

She was no longer the weak girl that hid behind the bodyguards her father sent to guard and watch over her.

If there was issues that Brick encountered then there would still be others willing to step in to lend him a hand and she was prepared to help out too.

No matter what the previous orders were and what her father wanted done, it was now Tanya who was in front of Homer who had to follow her orders even if he did not want to.

Her stating that she would talk to her father when she got home meant that she would handle any fall out that arose from it all so she would probably be the one to take on the responsibility.

Since she had said so, Homer had no more reason to keep pushing for Brick to go back or to punish him for disobedience.

Brick who saw the brave display of Tanya had put his hand over his mouth as if to hide the large grin spreading on his face. 'Ha! Serves you right you coward!'

He was happy that he was being protected and even happier that Homer was getting taught by Tanya who was the current boss in this situation.

He thought she was pretty cool in the way she handled it and then how Homer backed without bothering to argue any further.

Homer just sat in the driver seat as if following what she had wanted from him rather than causing more problems. 'In truth. I really want to get out of here too but orders are orders… now I can avoid a scolding when I get back..'

He let out a sigh and signalled for Tanya and Brick to enter. "Seatbelts."
