Evelyn had closed her eyes waiting for the upcoming pain. However, a few moments passed and she didn't feel anything.
In fact, there was a strange silence around the arena because she couldn't hear anything.
Confusion filled her heart and mind and she opened her eyes. She was surprised to see the lions inside the arena cowering in a corner.
The lions who looked hungry and ready to kill her, their eyes were now filled with fear.
"Growl!"
Her attention was caught by the distinctive growling sound.
She was still breathing heavily as she slowly raised her head and saw a giant creature in front of her eyes.
It was so giant that its shadow covered her completely.
The huge arena that was filled with excited cheers and screams a few moments ago was now completely silent. No one dared to make a sound fearing that the giant creature would notice them and smash them under its paw.
Surprisingly, Evelyn didn't feel scared to see its shining blue eyes fixed at herself solely. She looked at its wings which were a mix of golden, blue, and green colors.
All in all, the creature looked mystical…in its beauty as well as its aura.
'Growl!'
It growled again making the lions and the remaining four-five slaves in the arena cower in fear but Evelyn stood still as she looked at it with curiousness-filled eyes.
When it suddenly raised its paw in her direction, she was confused.
She looked at its eyes and then back at its paw.
Slowly, she dared to move towards its paw that was stretched in her direction.
When she was near it, she moved her hand towards its paw and as soon as her hand touched its paw, a gasp escaped her lips.
Not only she, but everyone inside the arena was shocked.
Evelyn felt her feet leaving the ground making her clutch the paw tightly, but a strong push still loosened her hold.
Just when she thought that she was about to die from the fall, she found herself seated in a very comfortable and comfy place.
A moment later, she realized that she was seated on the creature's back.
She watched as the arena got smaller and smaller in front of her eyes and she was soon in the sky.
Something she couldn't believe at all.
.
.
.
When the creature stepped down on the ground. it bent its body down very thoughtfully in such a way that Evelyn could get down from its back easily.
When her feet again touched the ground, she found a new-found relief spread through her heart.
Her curious eyes couldn't help but look at the creature again.
"Thank you for saving my life."
She didn't know if it understood or not but she thanked it.
"It is not Lavo but someone else you should thank, Miss."
A voice forced Evelyn to move her eyes away from the giant creature.
Evelyn looked toward the sound and saw a man walking in her direction.
The man wore noble clothes indicating that he comes from a good family. He had a gentle smile on his lips but at the same time, his eyes were fox-like.
The man stopped in front of Evelyn and glanced at Lavo playfully who ignored his gaze very royally.
"Who are you?"
The man turned to look at Evelyn when he heard the question.
His eyebrows went up in surprsie as he tried to remember if there had been even a single person in the past who asked him such a question.
Of course, he didn't find any such memory.
A grin made its way on his lips and he said in a very friendly manner.
"People call me Rex."
Rex ignored Lavo's gaze on himself that seemed to be saying 'People call you Your Highness' and asked Evelyn.
"And May I know the name of this beautiful lady?"
Evelyn blinked at the manner Rex asked her name.
He was polite…too polite for her …perhaps because she had seen only harshness in the past few years.
At the same time, she looked down at her torn clothes which were stained with mud. Fortunately, she wore two layers so her skin couldn't be seen from the torn-down parts.
However, she didn't look presentable at all.
Evelyn raised her head to answer Rex's question calmly. But before she could do so, a cold voice sounded in her ears.
"I didn't bring you here to do useless things."
Evelyn heard the voice from her behind and turned around to look at the source of the voice.
A man stood near Lavo wearing noble clothes.
He was looking at Lavo with cold and strict eyes. But perhaps he sensed her gaze so he looked toward her suddenly.
Surprised, Evelyn couldn't help but suck a breath when she saw his eyes.
His eyes were red and they shone like sapphires.
They were cold, aloof, and filled with slight annoyance.
She had never seen such a pair of eyes.
Her eyes went to the silver mask that covered the left side of his face.
'Growl!'
She looked away from the man when she heard Lavo's growl.
Lavo was looking at the man with the mask. From Its blue eyes, it looked as if someone had wronged it.
Evelyn didn't understand what it was trying to say but Rex who understood everything was laughing loudly.
'I didn't bring you here to do useless things…could Lavo even do anything without his permission?'
Rex thought inside his heart as he looked at his younger brother.
'Growl!'
Lavo growled again before it flew away from there to express that he was unhappy and wanted to stay alone.
Evelyn watched in amazement until it disappeared.
When she turned to look at Rex again, she bowed her head and thanked him politely.
"Thanks for saving my life."
She remembered that Rex said that she needed to thank someone else. So she thought that it was him who saved her life.
However, she was unable to notice the annoyance that flashed through the red sapphire eyes when she thanked Rex.
Rex noticed all this with interest. He was about to say something but stopped seeing someone running in their direction.
"You b***h…"
The whip fell on Evelyn's back before anyone could even understand anything. The force made her kneel down on the ground.
The skin on her back throbbed.
"You think that you can run away. How daring of you! Who was that creature?"
The slaveowner asked angrily and looked ready to hit Evelyn again.
He didn't notice the anger in red sapphire eyes but Rex did. Afraid that something worst will happen, Rex held the whip's end before it could hit Evelyn's back again and said sharply.
"When did Royal Palace start to allow such uncivilized people inside?"
There was no longer any smile on Rex's lips. His eyes were cold and sharp and his voice was not gentle at all as he asked the slaveowner this question.
The slaveowner was about to snap back at Rex when he noticed the symbol on Rex's clothes. Not only this, Rex was wearing a cape …something that only people from the Royal family wore.
"Y…Yo..ur Highness"
The slaveowner trembled under Rex's cold eyes and kneeled down on the ground.
"Your Highness, I was too loud. Forgive me."
He apologized immediately and glanced at Evelyn angrily as he continued
"This slave belongs to me, Your Highness. It suddenly disappeared from the arena so I came to catch her."
The slaveowner remembered how happy he had been to buy this slave because he had to pay a very low amount.
However, when had he thought that because of her, he would have to face the prince's wrath?
After returning, he must beat this slave to death.
The slaveowner came out of his trance when a heavy pouch fell in his lap.
Shocked, he touched the pouch with his fingers to confirm that it was really filled with coins.
His eyes shone like stars as he looked at the man who gave him the pouch. But his breath stuck in his throat when he saw the man.
The man wore a blue colored cape indicating that he was also from the Royal family. However…
His face was covered with a gold and silver-colored mask.
And there was only one prince who wore the mask.
The slaveowner was shocked.
Because It was none other than the prince who was responsible for Alafaros's victory more than anyone.
The man was The Masked Prince, Prince Regan!
