Aiden
The first flash of light from a hidden camera nearby is among the numerous thats pissed me off tonight. The random call outs for me to look at the camera or how I met my "fiance". The more we walked the more it felt like the entrance to the darn restaurant was moving away from us. We finally get to the entrance and I sigh with relief once the door is opened for us. My eyes dart to Amaya, with her hands in mine as we wait for the waiter to lead us to our table. She's wearing a red dress with mid length slit. The heels she's wearing clad her feet amazingly. She's a gorgeous woman I won't deny it, but she's also fucking annoying with a really smart mouth that pisses me the fuck off.
"Thank you" I mutter to the waiter thats giving us leading us to our table."You can atleast try to smile and act like we're in live you know" I murmur lowly to Amaya
"But we are inlove. Right husband?" She says sarcastically before looking at me and she smiles.
Prying eyes would see it and think we were the perfect couple which is good. The publicity would stop anyone from digging into this charade of a relationship.
"Here's your table. I'll be back to take your orders" The waiter nods curtly at both of us before he leaves. I walk to a chair and pull it out for her before going to sit in mine.
After looking at the menu she picks her phone up and starts typing "You know we're gonna have to talk with each other right? That's the only way to play this stupid date off" I say lowly with sharp intent. She glares at me before looking around and then dropping her phone.
"What would you like us to talk about Mr Carter?" She asks
"Anything. Atleast make it look like we're on a real date"
She rolls her eyes "What does it matter anyway? We're already engaged half the world already knows that if not all"
My jaw clenched "Which is why eyes will be on us! To know if it's fucking fake or not" I take in a deep breathe to control my voice "Just talk about any thing. Tell me about Bailey's dad" I ask
She takes a long deep breathe "Theres nothing to tell. He's dead"
"I'm sorry about that." I sympathize with her
She surprises me by laughing lowly "No need to be. I only met the guy once"
I raise my eyebrows before I finally piece it together "Okay not what i was expecting but... um sure"
She lets out a short laugh "You're judging me but it's okay. I get it all the time, so you're good" The waiter walks to our table with a starter and we both mumble a thank you along with what we've decided to order before he leaves.
"I don't care about your personal life therefore I won't judge you" I pick up my spoon to taste the dish that was just presented to us. Mine starter was a soup and Amaya's, cake. As we had both individually ordered
"Oh wow, you don't care about your wife?" she jokes
"Fake wife." I correct immediately
"No need to be sour, husband. I'm not fond of you either" she smiles and takes another bite from her cake
"Good. I'd like to imagine that just because we're married doesn't mean either of us has the right to be in the other persons business.
"Oh that reminds me. I'd like to know how the living situation is going to be like. I'm assuming you'd want to make whatever this is, really perfect." I know she's right but I can't help but feel like this a hint of mockery beneath her tone of voice.
"Yes. I decided that it's better I move in with you and Bailey after the wedding. We can decide any other steps after that.
She hums and drops her cutlery before looking at me " Who are you and what have you done with my fiancee?" She laughs. Just as I'm about to reply her, two waiters walk to us with trays and plates containing our food.
"I hope the dessert starter was to your taste ma'am?" The male waiter asks with a broad smile
"It was. But I'll have to admit this is my first time having dessert as a starter, and I like it.
"Thats good. Here at Crescent we aim to please our customers" He smiles suggestively again and Amaya only chuckles and looks away.
I clear my throat "Bring us a bottle of your best wine"
He nods "Anything else sir?"
"Yeah. Next time you flirt with my wife in front of me, your job won't be the only thing you lose"
"Sorry sir" he does a small bow and scampers away.
"Bastard" I mutter under my breath before digging into my meal
I feel eyes on me so i look up at her and like i guessed she was staring " You were jealous" She smirks at me
"Why would I be? I feel nothing for you and this is just a contract marriage, I only hate being disrespected. And he was disrespecting me"
She stops smiling for a bit i almost missed it "Don't worry husband. You're not my type, so we're good" She digs into her food
I scoff "What's that supposed to mean?"
She just shrugs "I dunno it means you're not my type of man" she replies without taking her eyes of the food
"And... what's your type?"
"She takes a sip of her water and looks directly at me "Not you"
The rest of the dinner consists of only the sounds of our cutlery against the plates here and there. And It suddenly feels like the entire restaurant went quiet along with us. Our wine had arrived and I had drank like half the entire bottle already.
"I just want this godforsaken dinner to be over!" I thought to myself
The sound of cutlery being dropped and touching against a plate bounces of my ears "Okay. Lets go I'll drive you home" Amaya clears her plates aside and picks up her belongings to put in her bag. I had no idea why she wanted to leave all of a sudden
"What's wrong? Why are we leaving suddenly?"
"The dinner is over, like you wanted" She replies. Her tone held a very obvious emotion but in my present state of drunkeness i could barely figure out what it was.
"What are you talking about?" A hiccup follows after the question
"I'm talking about this godforsaken dinner being over" it takes me a minute but what she's referring to finally dawns on me
"I said it out loud?" I ask. it sounded almost like a whisper
"Yes you did." she mutters before typing on her phone and then getting up "You can either get up and we leave together or you stay but either way I'm leaving without you"
One way or another I knew she wasn't bluffing about the last part. So I got up and we left.
