'Everyone, make teams of 6-8 people.' Three people were supervising us. Professor Altima, Instructor Goldhorn and Professor Altaca. Of course, we had 4 people already. Me, Edwina, Edgar and Akari. But we needed 2 more.
'Hey Katheryne, wanna join our team? It'd be very helpful if we had a healer on our team.'
'Oh, umm.' She looked away. 'I'm already going to join Oscar's team, but thank you for asking.' Shit! She's easily the best healer, but Oscar's already taken her. I need to find another one.
In truth, there was only one other healer in the Heroic class, but his personality was less than ideal. Well, there's no helping it.
Riley Arise-R 8, CR 10. He was the first son of Viscount Arise. At the moment he was standing by himself in the corner.
'Hey, Riley do you want to join our team.' He looked at me with his deep red eyes, and he smirked.
'Why would I want to join your team?'
'Well we kinda need a healer and no other team seems to want to take you.' He stared at me for a good 3 seconds and sighed.
'Fine I'll join, but on one condition.'
'What is it?'
'Put me in a position near Akari.' Are you serious? What do you want with my sister? Well, I guess we need a healer and it wouldn't hurt.
'Deal.' He walked on over to where our team was situated, and just stood quietly in a corner. I saw Edwina whisper into Edgar's ear and he chuckled.
Next, we needed the priest. Octavia was the only priest in class A so getting her on our team was a must. Many people were already approaching Octavia. But I knew how to get Octavia on our team.
'Hey, Octavia do you want to join our team?' She looked at me.
'Uhh, sorry I don't know what team to join. I'll just have the professors put me in a team.'
'That's a shame, Edgar really wanted you on the team.'
'Edgar?' She was quiet for a moment. 'I'll join then.'
'Perfect.' She had a crush on Edgar, so it was easy to persuade her. That was another reason why I recruited Edgar. It was like a 2 in one combo.
We had our team. It was a very strong one and we were prepared to head into the dungeon.
'Before we head in I'd like to discuss our positions. Edgar, you have the most important job. You will be protecting Akari, Octavia and Riley. You four will be sitting at the back. Octavia your job is to buff Edwina and me. Riley your main job will be being able to keep Edgar in the fight. Edwina and I will be at the front, but if one of us gets injured, Akari you take their place for a short time, if one of us gets injured your priority is to heal them instead of Edgar. If we keep up this rotation the dungeon should be a breeze.'
We had all brought in many potions and food rations as well in case we stayed multiple days in the dungeon, there was no way anything could go wrong.
'Professor Altima we're ready, please escort us.' He nodded and he went inside the purple portal. I followed.
When I stepped into the portal the transition in the environment was completely seamless. The room was dark. There was only a single torch lighting the room. It was cold and damp, I saw water dripping from the top-left corner of the room. There was a giant arch leading further into the dungeon.
One by one I saw the rest of my companions come into the dungeon.
'This place is a bit creepy, don't you think?' Octavia was scratching her head. Everyone was doing the same, after all, it was their first time in a dungeon.
'Yeah I agree, there's something off about this place, I have a feeling that something horrible will happen.' After Edwina said that the entire party's morale went significantly down.
'Well, whether something bad happens or not, we'll be able to get through it, I believe in you guys.' After I said that they started looking up, their morale started increasing. I held my sheathed Clarent with strength and pride. If anything goes wrong, I can always fall back on Clarent.
'Well stop talking and get on with it, I'll be right behind you.' We didn't actually know how strong
Professor Altaca was, so some of us would've liked to see him show off.
'Let's go.' I walked forward and my companions followed, they had complete faith in me. This would be the first step to us becoming the strongest party. The last one to step into the arch was Riley.
Clang. We heard the sound behind us just as Riley entered, then I saw a notification pop up.
Notice: Maximum number of entrants have entered the dungeon, no more may enter.
A giant wall had closed off the exit, we were trapped in there.
'Students! Students! Fuck I need to find another way around!' Professor Altaca was trying to get around, it was of no use though.
What? We aren't able to be supervised by Professor Altaca then. We have to get through this with our own strength.
'Hey, Mordred.' Edwina was looking at me, her face looked anxious. 'What does maximum entrants mean? Where is Professor Altaca?'
'Professor Altaca won't be joining us, we'll need to get through this with our own strength, we can't rely on others. Let's continue, standing around won't do us any good.'
We walked forward into the first room, the clutter of armour and footsteps being the only audible sounds. Every dungeon was structured simply. There are 5 rooms in total with one secret room. The first two rooms were filled with enemies. Then in the third room would be a mini-boss. After that, there would be a room with enemies that hinted at what the final boss of the dungeon would be.
A secret room would always form but the item to access it only had a small chance of dropping from the boss of the dungeon. It would have another boss monster to fight, but the treasure that is found in a secret room is incomparable to what is found in the main dungeon.
We walked forward into the first room of the dungeon. There were spriggans, kobolds and larger Kobold knights. There were unlit torches all over the room, but what purpose did they serve? Tranquil Sea!
Notice: Tranquil Sea does not work in dungeons.
'Guess I need to do this the hard way.'
'Everyone into your positions!' Everyone got into their positions.
'Lightning chain!' Akari yelled and her spell hit a spriggan and then spread to other monsters.'
'Oh goddess of light, hear my prayer and offer thy protection and strength!' Octavia started her prayer and a notification popped up.
Attack +15%, Defense +20%.
Alright! Edwina had started dealing with the Spriggans in front but Kobold Archers were pressuring Edgar. Some Kobold knights had started charging towards Edgar.
'Akari! Attack the Kobold Knights! Riley heal Edgar!' The knights had started to attack Edgar with their swords.' In the meantime, Edwina and I were occupied with the swarms of kobolds and spriggans at the front.
'Walpurgis Flame!' i obliterated the enemies in front of me, I turned to the side, some enemies were going towards Edgar from the side. 'Celestial Boulder!' I then killed some of the enemies near Edgar but couldn't kill them all.
'Towering defence!' It was a skill that would triple his endurance for 1 minute and make him resistant to staggering. On the other hand, Edwina was having trouble dealing with enemies.
'Ice Storm!' I trapped the opponents in front of Edwina in a prison. 'Edwina switch with me!'
She nodded and we ran past each other. 'Edgar what's your situation!' I looked back at him and he was getting swarmed by monsters. 'Help him Akari!'
'Lightning Chain! Lightning Chain!' The monsters in front of Edgar quickly disappeared and he was mostly free. Edwina was busy slashing monsters in front of her.
'Flame sword!' She imbued her sword with the power of fire and kept cutting the monsters down. Then she did something surprising.
'Taunt!' She taunted the enemies towards her. Wait what are you doing you're not a tank. Then she took out a small bottle from her pocket. 'Mordred cast Walpurgis Flame when I give the signal.' I didn't have a choice other than to follow along.
The monsters from Edgar's side went towards Edwina and she jumped up high into the air. She splashed the liquid inside of the bottle onto them.
'Edwina what are you doing?! You're not a tanker get back!' This time it was Edgar who was yelling at her.
'Everyone get back, stay away from the monsters, she ran back about 5 metres. 'Mordred now!'
'Walpurgis Flame!' The moment I cast it a massive explosion ensued, engulfing that side of the room in flames. While I couldn't get hurt by the flames I could get hurt by the sheer force of the blast. Only then did I realise that splashed oil onto them.
I was shoved into the floor and I heard multiple things crack. Fuck did I break a bone?' it was getting hard to breathe, and I coughed up blood. I took deep breaths but it didn't feel like enough.
'Mordred!' Edgar came running up to me. I coughed a couple times, Akari and Edwina also came over
'Riley heal me, don't waste our potions.' Riley came over.
'Restore.' I felt the inside of my body being healed, but I still felt like shit.
'Alright, let's have a short rest then we'll continue.' As I said that the floor started to shake.
'What's happening?' Octavia stuck near to Edgar. Then the shaking stopped.
The torches started lighting up very quickly. Oh god please no.
Notification: A dungeon boost has happened. Difficulty has risen from D to C.
The worst possible situation had just taken place.
