Chapter 7 - This Is Not a Dream

Lin Yi took out two bowls of flour and beat two eggs into them. After adding a little lard and water, she stirred them until they became pancake mixture consistency. Then, she used a large spoon to pour the mixture clockwise along the edge of the pot.

The paste quickly formed a round pancake. After flipping it over, she just needed to cook it for half a minute more.

Lin Yi made a total of five pancakes.

By the time dinner was ready, it was already dark outside.

When did Wei Luan usually come back?

Lin Yi suddenly remembered that she had forgotten to ask Wei Luan this question.

She moved a small stool to the door and waited. After a while, she fell asleep with her head against the wall.

Not long after, Wei Luan returned covered in dust. As soon as he entered, he saw Lin Yi sitting against the wall behind the door.

Lin Yi seemed to have fallen asleep. Her eyes were tightly shut, and her long eyelashes fluttered from time to time. Her cheeks were flushed red, and she looked very cute.

Wei Luan was stunned for a moment before he realized that Lin Yi was waiting for him.

No, how was that possible? She liked Jing Yan. Why would she wait for him to come home? Wei Luan reminded himself not to think too much.

A cool breeze blew in from outside the door. It was almost autumn, and it was a little cold at night. Wei Luan was afraid that Lin Yi would catch a cold, so he hesitated for a moment before carrying her in his arms.

Compared to the 1.86-meter-tall Wei Luan, Lin Yi was like a small doll. He effortlessly carried Lin Yi, placed her on the bed in the bedroom, and covered her with a blanket.

Wei Luan looked at Lin Yi's sleeping face and felt like he was dreaming.

Such a beautiful woman actually married him. The two of them even had sex last night…

Wei Luan looked at Lin Yi for a while before heading to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

Today, he had specially asked Brother Tang's wife in the production team how to cook so that it would be more palatable. Brother Tang's wife gave him some pointers, and Wei Luan memorized them carefully.

When Wei Luan was alone, he did not care about what he ate. Now, there was a woman at home and Lin Yi could not eat his cooking. He could only try his best to improve his cooking skills.

Wei Luan was not sure if he could make any improvement, so he walked into the kitchen nervously. However, when he opened the cupboard, he realized that two eggs seemed to be missing. There were also a few corn and sweet potatoes missing.

At this moment, Wei Luan suddenly smelled a fragrance. He opened the pot on the stove. Hot water was boiling in the pot. There was a plate and two bowls on it. The plate was filled with egg pancakes, and the bowls were filled with sweet potato corn porridge. It was unknown how long it had been kept warm, but it was still steaming.

Was this Lin Yi's cooking?

Wei Luan was stunned. A strange yet wonderful feeling slowly spread in his heart. He pinched his thigh in disbelief.

It hurt, so this was not a dream.

In the bedroom, Lin Yi was woken up by Wei Luan. She rubbed her eyes and said softly, "You're back? What time is it?"

Wei Luan coughed unnaturally. He looked out of the window and asked, "Did you cook?"

"Uh huh. Do you really think I don't know how to do anything?" Lin Yi got off the bed and sat down at the old wooden table outside. She picked up her chopsticks and took a bite of the egg pancake.

It was delicious!

Lin Yi had spent years studying and setting up her business on her own, so she had learned how to cook for herself. She had also learned to cook from food bloggers on the Internet. She knew how to cook noodles, stir-fried vegetables, stewed soup, and specialty snacks… There was no end to the cuisine she could make.

Unfortunately, Wei Luan did not have enough ingredients. She could only make the simplest egg pancakes and mixed-grain porridge.

Wei Luan also sat down. After taking a bite of the egg pancake, his hand froze holding his chopsticks.

Lin Yi looked up at him. "Don't you like it?"

Wei Luan lowered his head and took a sip of the mixed-grain porridge. The sweet potatoes and the corn grains stimulated his taste buds. In an instant, all the fatigue in his body seemed to have disappeared.

He had never eaten such delicious egg pancakes and mixed-grain porridge.

"No, I'm not a picky eater," Wei Luan said in a stifled tone.

Lin Yi knew that Wei Luan was a man of few words. No matter how good her cooking was, he probably would not praise her.

Forget it. She only wanted to have a normal meal for herself and did not need his praise.
