The long-awaited invitation to the Emperor's banquet finally arrived. Several royal envoys came to deliver the invitation letter in person.
The Marquis of Jiujiang greeted them warmly and invited them into his residence.
"Greetings to the esteemed Marquis of Jiujiang. We bring an invitation from His Majesty, the Emperor," one of the royal envoys said as he gave a slight bow.
"Ah, please, come in. I've been eagerly awaiting this invitation. What does it say?" Marquis of Jiujiang gave them a deep bow as a formality.
One of the royal envoys cleared his throat and began reading the invitation aloud in front of all members of the residence.
"By the decree of the Emperor, you and your family are cordially invited to attend the grand banquet in Chang'an to celebrate His Majesty's birthday on the fifteenth day of next month."
