Chereads / Demonic Beast and Evil Prince / Chapter 4 - The Past

Chapter 4 - The Past

Stunned for a moment, Zhu Longwei then said in displeasure, "What're you doing, Miss!? I just meant to check your pulse!"

"Don't come any closer or I'll scream so everyone will come here!" Sharon bluffed and tried to fight.

He sneered. "Scream? What kind of place do you think the Demon Valley is? Even the soldiers don't dare to come near. Don't even try to scream, or you'll wake up the swarms of thugs or wandering ghosts who have taken refuge in their hideouts. Save your energy and do as I said. If you're still being annoying, I'll throw you into the sea again. Rest assured, the sharks over there are still waiting to devour you."

Sharon was stunned.

Even though he said it perfunctorily, the threat had worked. Sharon was a little unnerved by his last words. She felt that she had come out of the tiger's den and getting into the den of wolves in ancient times and was unable to escape. If she was really thrown into the sea, there might not even be a single bone left after it was all over.

Then, Zhu Longwei grabbed her wrist and checked her pulse. "You're injured, Miss. Let me check if you're alright."

The sensation of his hand on her wrist sent Sharon into a panic.

What a terrific actor he was! Indeed, he was a master of the art of wooing and appeasing females. Many young women today would look up to him as their ultimate male role model if he were in the present day. All 'oppa', the handsome and tall Korean young men must stand aside.

She felt bad for him since he was stuck in ancient times and all he could become was a dashing swordsman.

"I don't mean to interfere, but just want to ask. What exactly have you been doing, Miss? Why are those people after you?"

She frowned in bewilderment. "I don't understand what you meant, sir."

After a long while, only then did he have time to look over the young girl in front of him intently. She was really beautiful with rosy white cheeks that were now slightly swollen, beautiful high nose and big round, watery eyes.

He cleared his throat and said indomitably, "Don't pretend that you know nothing. I heard myself when the woman in red was cursing at you. Who was she? What did you do to make her so angry?"

Sharon stammered as she said, "I'm serious. Despite being shocked and scared, I'm not in a good health after hitting the rock and my head is still dizzy. I'm afraid I won't be able to remember anything."

Hearing that, Zhu Longwei was a bit stunned. Was it some kind of ploy to buy time or caught him off guard a bit?

"Did your head hit the rock? Where did it hurt? Let me see."

Sharon hesitated for a moment but rushed into action when she saw him raising his eyebrows in displeasure.

She slightly moved and tilted her head, pointing to the right side of her head, "Yes, here, this part. I think there's a big swollen lump."

As she lowered her head, her long disheveled black hair was like fine silk, emanating a faint, sweet fragrance as each strand brushed the back of his hand. It felt like being swept away by the tip of a fine peacock feather; like a dragonfly jumping over the lake water.

Zhu Longwei smirked as if mocking himself, how long had it been since he last touched a woman? It had been almost eight years since he had returned in this area.

He stretched out his hand and felt a big swollen lump as she said. She was telling the truth about it.

"Ouch!" She exclaimed in an exaggerated manner as she took a gulp of cold air to make it look even more miserable.

A moment later, he lowered his hand and looked at her. "Do you still remember your name? What about your family?"

She shook her head frankly.

"That's okay. Your head injury had caused you to lose some of your memories. I hope it isn't too bad and your memory loss is only temporary."

"What really happened?"

"You single-handedly fought against a group of fighters before. In a pinch, you plunged into the sea, dragged into a vortex that carried you away to the bottom of the sea and it seemed like your head hit a rock at that time."

"What era is it? How do you know that I was carried away by the vortex?" Sharon bombarded him with many questions at once.

"We're in the Eastern Han Dynasty. I watched the entire battle unfold and tried to rescue you by pulling you out of the vortex, but I failed. After being drifted away by the vortex, we're now in the Wu region of Yang province. During the fight, you said that you're one of the daughters of the Tan Noble Family."

It was then that Zhu Longwei seemed like he had remembered something. He looked at her and said, "When I think about it, I think you're the third daughter of Marquis Jiujiang, Tan Xiuying!"

"How do you know that my name is Tan Xiuying?" She replied.

"Master Tan Jianjun who holds the title Marquis Jiujiang is a man of honor, honesty, and wisdom. As one of the Emperor's relatives who was given the title and power to be in charge as a ruler in the territory of the Jiujiang, his name is well known throughout the country. Certainly, everyone knows that he has two sons and three daughters. Considering that you master your Kung Fu very well, I assume that you must be the third daughter, Tan Xiuying."

His words were like the key that opened the Pandora's Box of her reminiscences. Many memories of the real Tan Xiuying instantly flashed through her mind…

It must be the original memory of the host of this body. The images she saw seemed a bit odd, but she was able to put them together in an instant.

Marquis Jiujiang's third daughter was rumored to have gone missing. With her cruel, domineering, overbearing and stubborn way of behaving, Tan Xiuying always oppressed the weak so that most people prefer to stay away from her as far as possible.

She took advantage of her beauty and intelligence to get whatever she wanted, including alluring the Fourth Prince, Liu Junjie. Her feeling towards him was reciprocated, as Liu Junjie apparently was also attracted to her. It wouldn't be a problem if he was a single man, but he was already married to Peng Liling.

Once their affair was found out, it was regarded as a disgrace to her family. Marquis Jiujiang, Tan Jianjun, scolded her furiously and gave her a severe punishment - to be exiled to a remote village under strict guard. However, the girl managed to escape on their way to the village.

Long before the journey to her exile, the real Tan Xiuying received a letter from her secret lover, Liu Junjie. Having managed to escape, she immediately went to the place mentioned in the letter. It was a trap, but she didn't see that coming!

Peng Liling was the adopted daughter of the Emperor's cousin, who had married the Fourth Prince, Liu Junjie. Driven by a burning jealousy, she had framed Tan Xiuying by sending a letter under her husband's name to allure her.

She purposely set the meeting in Houguan City under the territory of the Kuaiji with its topography of hills, mountains, and steep plateaus leading directly to the sea.

Her only purpose was to mobilize her troops in a fight to capture alive the girl who had seduced her husband, or to let the girl be forced to fall and die in the fierce sea.

As expected, the real Tan Xiuying was dead once she fell into the sea and was sucked in by the fierce vortex. Unexpectedly, a secret agent and spy from the modern era coincidentally possessed her body and resurrected the girl.

Sorting out and bringing together all the reminiscences Sharon had was an easy task for her who was an expert in tactics and strategy.

How complicated the trouble this bad girl caused in her past!

Since she was the new owner of this body, she decided to live a beautiful and joyful life, even helping the real Tan Xiuying to put back together everything she had done.

It will be very difficult task for her, considering that she was the culprit of the tragedy that will befall her family in the future. She sensed the bloody intrigue and inevitable death surrounding this girl later on.

Huh! The road that stretched before her was still long and arduous. Wanna give up? There was no such word in her terms!

Sharon decided with unanimous determination that from this moment onwards, she reminded herself that she was Tan Xiuying now.

Sharon Lin was just a thing of the past. She'll never go back to that time because she was already dead.

I'm Tan Xiuying!
