Chapter 3 - Condition

A nurse has come out of the emergency room, wearing a medical uniform with a head covering and mask. The woman then looked for people who were Katsuhi's family. The nurse seemed to have something to say.

Hiruzen and Harumi quickly stood up, they wanted to know the real state of their child. They don't want to be constantly confused because of a problem with no clarity.

"How is our daughter's condition?" asked Hiruzen to the point.

"Your daughter is in a calm condition, but it's better to keep a distance from the patient for now. The patient's emotional turmoil is unstable, we can see it from the patient's unstable heartbeat and blood vessels. Patients should not be stressed, especially now that the patient is pregnant."

Hiruzen immediately grabbed the nurse's shoulder and said something. "I want to meet the doctor who check my daughter."

Hiruzen's face looked very tense. He was very, very curious about something, moreover he was dissatisfied with the outcome of his argument with Sei which made Hiruzen feel humiliated. Hiruzen wanted to prove that his accusations against Sei were true.

"O-okay, the doctor is inside. You can meet him at--"

"I'm coming too," said Sei interrupting Hiruzen and the nurse's conversation.

"Sorry Sir, but now it's only allowed for one person to go inside to see doctors and patients."

"I don't want to know, I want to go in there and talk to the doctor," Sei insisted.

"We can take turns, Sei. I entered the room first, then you," said Hiruzen. He understood that Sei wanted to know a more detailed explanation from the doctor regarding Katsuhi's condition.

"No, I want to come with you," said Sei firmly. He didn't want a second or third turn in a situation like this, Sei had trust issues with everyone.

The nurse knew that if this debate continued there would be a fistfight in the hospital hallway, with a tired feeling the nurse finally intervened between the two of them by persuading them.

"You don't have to fight, if you want to meet the doctor who treats the patient then you can meet him in his room. I will ask him to meet you there."

A fair way out, Sei and Hiruzen didn't have to fight over their turn to meet the doctor. The nurse is indeed wise. Besides, the nurse is also lazy if she has to clean up the mess that occurs when people fight there.

Shiny clean black loafers tapped on the hospital hallway floor that was no less shiny than the shoes. The cold and airy atmosphere of the hospital didn't match the feeling of being lonely there. It was a little scary because the alley was indeed empty of visitors other than the medical officers who came there or the people who had the authority to come there.

"How? Have they been dispersed?" asked a man with a British accent mixed with a distinctive Japanese accent. A strange little way of speaking, but it makes him look unique and interesting.

"They already look calmer, but they are still asking about your arrival. I'm afraid if they will get emotional again," said the nurse. Her small body matched her shriveled guts.

"Okay, I'll meet them there. You can do your other work. Thanks for accompanying me, Cassandra."

The tall and sturdy doctor left the nurse named Cassandra alone in the middle of the hospital hallway. According to the doctor's instructions, Cassandra left the place and returned to her work still piling up.

In a room with comfortable furniture and casual style, two people are sitting with feelings of sadness in their hearts. Can't wait for the doctor's arrival, the two of them continued to remain silent during the silence that silence so felt.

Cold air from the air conditioner, the air freshener that sprays deodorizer spray every five minutes, and the clock on the wall that keeps ticking. Complete, they are like in the middle of an empty living room with no occupants.

It was so quiet in the room, the sound of closing the door sounded like the sound of things just being slammed very loudly. Sei and Hiruzen were almost taken aback by the sound earlier.

"Sorry I kept you waiting," said the doctor. "Earlier I took data about the patient's condition before coming here, and... You can see the data. Actually the doctor who was the first to treat the patient was not me, but I was also summoned to the room because something was surprising in the patient."

Hiruzen grew even more furious, hoping that all the news he had heard from a few hours ago until now was just a dream. Hiruzen is still shocked to hear the news about his daughter's pregnancy, even though he is very obedient to him. Katsuhi's pregnancy could destroy Sei and Katsuhi's wedding plans. There is a lot of loss going on here.

The doctor stepped onto the gray sofa and faced the two men who had been waiting for an explanation from him. The doctor seemed to be in debt to them.

"Okay, so I'll probably pass this on to you guys so you can see what's going on with the patient while listening to my explanation," said the doctor. "Before that, I would like to introduce myself first. My name is Torodabi Shouken. I am an obstetrician. You can call me Doctor Torodabi."

Actually, the doctor prefers to be called Shouken rather than Torodabi, only because the formality forces the doctor to use his last name, Torodabi.

After getting acquainted, the three talked about the condition of Katsuhi's body. Hiruzen and Sei immediately asked Sei a lot of questions. But their main attention is focused on the same desire.

DNA test

"How to do a DNA test at the gestational age which is still around the first trimester? Can it be done?" asked Sei. He seemed in a hurry.

Doctor Shouken loosened his tie, the doctor understood the problem this time without having to tell the two of them.

"Of course, you can. We can do several methods. But, I need to tell you that certain conditions make it difficult and become an hindrance to carrying out DNA tests for the patient's fetus," said Shouken.

"What hindrance hinder the DNA test?" asked Hiruzen.

The doctor let out a short breath. His sitting position which had been upright was now slightly bent and resting his elbows on his knees while sorting out some of the papers in the folder he had brought with him.

"You can see the results of this ultrasound first," said Shouken while handing several photos of the ultrasound results to Hiruzen and Sei.

"Twins?" said Sei curiously.
