The ride back to the barracks was a blur for Henry.
He didn't know how Melan got to the stable or who helped him up the flights of brick stairs in order for him to make it to his barrack.
At one moment, he was at the castle feeling lighthearted and the next he was running down the hallway of the barracks so he could vomit outside and over the wall that acted as a walkway between the buildings on the border of the commander's property.
When his stomach was empty, he sat on the hard floor, the cold air surprisingly soothing the feeling of his body rejecting all of the alcohol he consumed. He didn't have a shirt on or anything covering his feet. He felt sorry for himself and for whoever had to deal with getting him into his bed. It couldn't have been easy.
The world around him was spinning since he had sat down and the only cure was to shut his eyes.
