Chapter 70 - Loss

Sir Trenton felt awful having to eradicate a den of puppies but there was no choice. One of the biggest dangers to people in rural areas was dire wolves. They didn't stop at hunting livestock especially when their food was scarce in cold weather. 

His job was finished and he returned to his horse, effortlessly mounting his steed. With a squeeze of his heels, his horse took off in the direction Henry went the last time he saw him.

Maneuvering between the trees and jumping over rocks, he made it to the same hill and stood at the top. 

Sir Trenton's hazel eyes looked down between the trees and searched for any further evidence of Henry's whereabouts. However, he heard splashing and decided that's where Henry likely was. He hoped that his apprentice found the horse and they could soon join the others in battle.
