Irene's expression gave way to her confusion.
So far, Henry had given her small things that she was always thankful for. She loved each gesture of his love and the way he showed he cared.
Never had she been one to desire large gifts of great importance but, as he talked about how hard it was to pick something from her, she couldn't control her heart rapidly beating in her chest.
"You're giving me something?" she asked.
She felt unprepared to receive anything. In situations where gifts were involved, she always liked to have something prepared for the other person as well.
"Irene, don't worry," Henry said with a smile, having a feeling he knew what she was thinking. "I'm just thankful that you're willing to put yourself under a lot of pressure by coming with me to this banquet."
Without pressing the issue further, Henry reached into his pocket and brought out a red velvet bag containing the item he wanted to give her.
