Irene's words settled into Arthur's heart and he felt terrible that his daughter was worrying about him, not the other way around. In his opinion, it should be parents worrying for their children and not the other way around.
Arthur couldn't refute what she said. Rochelle had been so worried that she stuck to his side and did nothing else. It was Arne who had to seek more medicine from the healer in the village.
"So what are you waiting for?" Arthur asked. "My next collapse? Is that really how you want to live your life?"
"Father…" Irene trailed off.
It was hard to face that truth. She didn't know what her next steps were. She missed wielding a sword but she also missed a time when her father was the greatest knight in the world and nothing could stop him, not even sickness.
