Chapter 579 - Soon Enough

Henry was on guard the moment the words left Arthur's mouth. 

His dark eyes widened and he stared at the older man, not sure what to make of the situation.

"Sir?" Henry asked, trying to remain polite. 

If anyone should be crying, Henry felt like it was him. The woman he loved had told him she didn't plan on seeing him for at least four months. She wasn't wrong for choosing that and he would never hold it against her, but it still hurt him. If his mother was sick, he would drop everything to be by her side as well. 

Yet it was Irene who cried. 

Henry wanted to go see her but he was pinned to the floor by her father's gaze.

"Shut the door, please," Arthur said and gestured for Henry to come closer to him. 

Henry was obedient, knowing the man was rational. He joined him at the window, realizing suddenly that the window boasted a view of the lilac bushes. He felt nervous at the things they had gotten up to amongst them before.
