Irene felt for Henry. He wasn't a man raised in this environment yet he was taking it with stride. After he brought her back to her table, he didn't return to his table once.
Whenever she saw him, he was talking with someone or getting dragged onto the dance floor with someone's daughter. At one point he even danced with Earl Auden's wife so they could have a conversation about the banquet that she had organized herself. The countess was known for having the most beautiful gatherings in the north.
Even Irene's parents weren't immune to dancing and the two of them got up to join in on the festivities for both a fast and a slow dance. Then they went off to cool off in one of the sitting rooms in the hallway.
