The last person Henry expected so early in the morning was the knight he had been taking care of only a few hours before. Irene was in such a drunk state when he left her, he was certain she would have taken over his bed until later in the day which he was perfectly fine with.
When he was met with dark green eyes and an absolutely petrified expression, he was immediately alert and sat on the couch.
"What is it?" he asked her. "Are you feeling okay?"
Irene didn't know how to tell him about what had happened, worried he might be irritated at the complication added to his life because of her. After all, he was a duke and would most likely not want to be associated in such a way with one of his subordinates. Someone like Henry needed someone equal to him, like a princess.
Even if he lost one princess, it didn't mean he couldn't easily get another one.
