As usual, Henry was kind to Irene. He had never not been.
It made her feel terrible that he wanted to get to know her further but she had been resistant.
There were many reasons as to why she was suspicious of unfamiliar men. Most of the reasons were due to what her father told her about knights in general. It was also why she had to hide her gender for such a long time because of her father's paranoia.
At first, Henry simply walked out of Rosalind's house and past the knight who was waiting for him. When he made it to the end of the pathway in front of the house, he gestured for Irene to follow.
"Come along," Henry said. "You've been traveling for a few days now. You might as well rest while you can."
Irene followed quietly, but at least she did follow.
It wasn't until they were near to the front of the inn that Henry stopped and hesitated. He turned towards the knight and let out a short sigh.
