Henry sat in the commander's warm study at one of the armchairs in front of his fireplace.
Based on where Callum had made Henry sit, the younger knight imagined it was his effort to try and approach whatever topic he had in mind in a casual manner so he wouldn't worry. However, the commander could no longer hide his emotions from the younger man and Henry recognized his aloofness by the way he refused to also sit down.
Callum went to the window then to the fireplace when the coldness from the glass pane could be felt on his neck and exposed forearms from pushing up his sleeves. It was the end of winter but there was still a biting breeze this close to the ocean.
"You're leaving today," the commander commented.
He was starting the conversation as if whatever he had to say made him nervous. The once cold yet indifferent commander could be easily read after all he and Henry had been through together.
