The unpredictability of Henry's sleep only appeared when he joined the Knights of Hydrogia.
Most peasants had a set schedule around the manual labor they were put up to during the day. They would rise with the sun and sleep with the moon. Most couldn't afford candles so it was the easiest schedule to stick to.
However, the variable schedule of being a knight would cause Henry to wake for an entire day and not be able to sleep until the sun was out. Sometimes he was simply too restless to sleep, though he never seemed to be too tired to work.
He never thought much of his sleeping before but he realized he sometimes missed the predictability of knowing when he was going to shut his eyes each night. However, with that came a dull life that would never reach his heart and soul the way he desired it to.
