Henry knew realistically he could get in trouble for such a late night visit to the princess but seeing her perfectly safe in her bed put his tumultuous thoughts at ease.
As he watched her breathe softly and rest peacefully, he couldn't help feeling that he had been slighted. He had worried so much yet here she was perfectly fine.
Perhaps it was her goal to get him in front of her and he had played right into her hand.
The knight crouched down next to her bed and he rested his arms on the soft bedding next to her. His chin pressed into his arms so he could observe her from up close.
He felt the weight of his exhaustion as he found a comfortable position but he knew he couldn't fall asleep there.
The frustration he was feeling was disappearing now that she was in front of him. He was losing his resolve to be upset and wanted to be comforted by her instead.
Yet he didn't know how he was supposed to tell her that.
